Chemistry and Biochemistry of Plant Constituents, XXVII). Syntheses of Methoxy-substituted Chalcone and Flavanone Derivatives under Mild ConditionsMethoxy-substituted chalcones (6, 7) and flavanones (3-5) are prepared under mild conditions (pH 8.5, 0.07 m, 0.01 m, 37"). The influences of substituents on the formation of the chalcone and the flavanone are discussed. In presence of glycin as a catalyst the reactions are accelerated and the yields increased (table I).
