La adopción de una modalidad virtual imprevista afectó de varias formas a los estudiantes universitarios que finalizaron su proceso de formación durante el período de confinamiento por pandemia de COVID-19, dicho escenario tuvo un impacto significativo en la autoestima profesional de los nuevos egresados pues una gran parte de ellos poseen la idea de no contar con las habilidades necesarias para hacer frente a la presencialidad, es debido a esto que la indagación en dicha temática fue pertinente. La metodología utilizada fue de carácter mixto, teniendo como instrumento cualitativo a la entrevista semiestructurada y al “Inventario de Autoestima de Stanley Coopersmith” cómo instrumento cuantitativo. Los resultados de las entrevistas demostraron que un porcentaje significativo de los participantes consideró que su autoestima profesional fue afectada por el confinamiento, esto se apoya en los resultados obtenidos por la escala de autoestima pues el nivel predominante del área social fue el medio bajo; gracias a ambos resultados se puede afirmar que la autoestima profesional de más de la mitad de la población se vio afectada, teniendo como elemento principal la percepción de poseer una limitada capacidad para manejar un salón de clases dentro de la presencialidad.
