Adaptation of amalgam to cavity details appears to be influenced by the precondensation content of mercury. Five alloys demonstrated an optimum content of mercury for adaptation, in that mercury content above or below this proportion decreased the adaptation. The optimum content of mercury varied between 51 and 54% and was dependent on the alloy used. A variation in mercury of 3% or less made a significant difference in adaptability for some alloys.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
