0 Average of six determinations. 6 The amount of calcium and sodium salts converted to that of free acid. The electrode potentials of the 2-iodoxy-/2-iodosobenzoate system at 25°are 1.33, 0.61 and 0.56 V at pH 1, 4 and 7 respectively. At the corresponding pH, the 2-iodoso-/2iodobenzoate system has electrode potentials 1.21, 0.53 and 0.48 V.Large amounts of glucose, maltose, sucrose, lactose, sodium formate, glycine, and alanine do not interfere with the determination of isoniazid; other materials that do not affect the analysis appear in the footnote of Table II.LITERATURE CITED(1) Garratt, D. Even in acidified liquid samples from nuclear power facilities, fractionation of radionuclides among the solution, filterable material and container walls is the rule rather than the exception. The nuclides sorbed onto the walls of plastic containers cannot be removed easily by washing with strong mineral acids but can be wiped from the walls of the containers. Data showing the variable and severe degree of radionuclide fractionation are presented. Paper pulp added to acidified samples at the time of collection concentrates the nuclides and minimizes their sorption onto container walls. Filtration, wet ashing of the filterable material, washing of the container and reconstitution of the fractions provides a stable, homogeneous solution from which reliable analyses can be obtained. With few exceptions, recoveries are greater than 95% for each nuclide in the sample.
Potassium fluoride and pyrosulfate fusions of soil guarantee strontium Is in the ionic state. After dissolving the fusion cake, strontium sulfate is coprecipitated with lead and calcium which are preferentially dissolved into EDTA and discarded. Subsequently, strontium sulfate is dissolved in EDTA and hydrolytic elements are separated on ferric hydroxide. Strontium sulfate Is precipitated from EDTA at a lower pH, dissolved in DTPA, and set aside for ' OY Ingrowth. After ingrowth the strontium sulfate is reprecipitated, and the '"Y is extracted from the supernate Into bis( 2-ethyhexyl)phosphorlc acid. When both ''Sr and "Sr are being determined, barium chromate is separated from a DTPA solution of strontium. Strontium sulfate Is precipitated from the barium chromate supernate and counted for ''Si plus "Sr. Yttrium-90 Is counted on yttrium oxalate to determine %r, and *'Sr is determined by difference. Precision, accuracy, sensitivity, and the effects of interferences are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
