La dermatitis atópica (DA) es un proceso crónico, inflamatorio y pruriginoso que cursa en forma de brotes asociados generalmente a la elevación de IgE sérica e historia familiar o personal de rinitis alérgica, asma o hipersensibilidad tipo I.
Es considerada como la enfermedad de la piel más frecuente de la infancia, aunque también puede presentarse en adultos, pero en menor porcentaje. Los pacientes que padecen esta condición requieren de un seguimiento minucioso por parte de dermatólogos y pediatras para un correcto manejo y prevención de complicaciones.
Esta condición que generalmente es producida por una acción violenta continúa y es la principal causa de muertes en pacientes de las primeras edades. Como condición, el traumatismo simboliza una incógnita de salud pública, es el primer antecedente de muerte en la primera mitad de vida y la cuarta para todos los demás grupos de edades. Es la principal causa de morbimortalidad en gente menor de 34 años. El traumatismo no sólo es capaz de producir lesiones abdominales, también las puede producir en otras regiones del cuerpo, lo que convierte al paciente en politraumatizado, transformando esta patología en una verdadera emergencia médico-quirúrgica. Sin embargo, en el concepto anterior se habló de una manera general de traumatismo. En el caso del trauma abdominal, es una lesión que puede ser originada por otro agente exterior y producido en la cavidad abdominal, provocando daño en órganos y tejidos que están dentro de la cavidad abdominal.
