Unexpected cause of acute abdomen in a young healthy woman: the stercoral perforation 46-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department with increasing colicky lower abdominal pain associated with vomiting and constipation in the last 24 h. Her past medical history was unremarkable and no history of abdominal surgery. She complained about chronic constipation. The patient was hemodynamically stable. The initial physical examination revealed abdominal distension with guarding of the lower abdomen. Bowel sounds were infrequent. On rectal examination, rectum was empty. The white cell count was 17.1 × 10 9 /L and the haemoglobin was 12.5 g/dL.
