Many recent studies indicate that the application of virtual teams has increased dramatically in recent years in various businesses and public services such as education as a result of the rapid progress in information and communication technology. The use of virtual teams increased further after the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. The research problem lies in the contradiction between the increasing use of virtual teams in the field of business and services and the high failure rate in virtual teams, as the factors affecting the success of these teams still need further exploration and research. The importance of this study lies in highlighting the most important factors associated with the success of virtual teams in the field of higher education, as this study contributes to bridging the knowledge gap in previous studies that did not adequately address the performance of virtual teams in the higher education sector.
Zakat is religious duty for Muslims. Muslim-owned companies also paid zakat. With religious duty in mind, there is no expectation of worldly rewards. When companies are constantly paid zakat, there is good effect to the companies’ performance and competitive advantages. This study postulated that zakat enables companies to gain sejahtera strategic position and action for sustainable performance. The case study on three different companies that paid zakat showed sejahtera position and action. The study uses strategic position and action evaluation (SPACE) Matrix to investigate the influence of zakat on sejahtera strategic position and action. The results of the study showed that zakat has worldly effect.
The concept of ethical attitude and standard in business dealings has long been argued in the academic world. The current implication on skills and ethical concepts and ideas of Malaysian entrepreneurs from Islamic practices is briefly outlined in the study. Capitalizing on a comprehensive set of questionnaire containing information on respondent’s profile, characteristics and educational background, one hundred twenty one (121) entrepreneurs were surveyed using convenience sampling. The practices of Islamic skills and ethics among Malaysian entrepreneurs in numerous business sectors are discussed in the study. The study postulates that the awareness gained from well-being (falāh) in life and excellence (itqān) in work from business organisation can be derived from the pursuit of Tawhidic principle. A set of close ended questions that contains individual’s characteristics and principles are distributed to entrepreneurs from various business sectors and work experiences for the purpose. Providentially, the study managed to collect 121 completed questionnaires from Malaysian’s entrepreneurs. The study contributes significant information to the academic world as well as to the corporations and governments in conducting business. Finally, the study concludes with the discussion on the proposed business practices and recommended future implementation in achieving entrepreneur’s career success. Hikmah (practical wisdom) has been an outcome of ethical spiritual knowledge and discretion about abstract and uncertainty. The intensive sharing and engaging with many stakeholders enables the acquisition of hikmah (practical wisdom). Crowdfunding relies on trust and credibility of the crowd (wisdom of the crowd). The integration of practical wisdom and wisdom of the crowd provides synergy in crowdfunding. The influence of hikmah (practical wisdom) with wisdom of the crowd enhances trust and credibility. This study solicits the views of crowdfunding organizers through personal interviews on the hikmah (practical wisdom) experience. The informants argued that the influence of hikmah is in the reciprocal engagement with various individuals and members of civil societies. The informants also contended that hikmah found in the spirit of giving through the crowdfunding activities. The findings are limited to the context based on the insights of the informants. The future research should use a case study method for the influence of hikmah from multiple perspectives.
