REAL TIME CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEM OF GTAW WELDING WITH USE OF OPTICAL EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY METHOD FOR ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE SENSING AbstractThis paper presents a new technique for monitoring and control of welding quality in real time by electromagnetic emission analysis from plasma column of arc welding GTAW using emission spectroscopy. The monitoring is made by estimating the mean temperature of electrons of Argon present on plasma column. The electron temperature is estimated using the intensity ratio of a couple of emission lines, obtained by combination of Saha, Boltzmann and emission intensity equations. Considering that the mean temperature of electrons of Argon in plasma column is proportional to heat input, act in welding current to maintain the electronic temperature constant, with a digital control. The effect of external disturbances is compensated by the controller, offering a better weld quality, with mechanical properties constant in the welded surface.
