Like in many other developing countries, Indonesia’s population has been amongst the most enthusiastic ‘uptakers’ of the internet, especially of social media. Most Indonesians utilize the internet as an information source, including religious ones. Various groups and communities of Islamic studies have appeared on social media along with religious leaders who are also active on social media. Based on the various characteristics that have emerged, Islamic learning practices scattered across various social media platforms have increasingly illustrated the symptoms of religious populism. This is marked by the various socio-religious movements that have emerged from these practices. By using a digital religion perspective in order to observe Islamic learning practices on several social media platforms, this paper argues that social media has become a productive space for the development of religious populism in Indonesia. At first glance, religious populism on social media seems to challenge authoritative figures or religious institutions, but it can also be seen as a way for Islamic agents to convey Islamic teachings in a media-friendly culture.

Conclusion Selected Glossary Bibliography viii The Workshop for Morality The Workshop for Morality is a superb work of both historical and ethnographic relevance that reflects the capacity of its author, Dindin Solahudin, to capture a critical moment in the development of Islam in contemporary Indonesian society. A native of Bandung, Dindin Solahudin has had an association since 1993 with the former State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Sunan Gunung Jati that has now become a State Islamic University in Bandung. On the Faculty of Dakwah and Communication, he has, at different times, headed both the Department of Journalism and the Department of Community Development. Since 1996, he has also been a lecturer at Pesantren Al-Ihsan. Since his graduation from The Australian National University in 1998, he has continued to do research ix and to publish on a wide range of topics. He is currently engaged in the study of Islamic moderation for a doctoral degree at the State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga in Yogyakarta James J. Masalah penelitian ini untuk menganalisis strategi pengembangan yang digunakan pondok pesantren Al-Mu’awanah dalam meningkatkan kreatifitas santri, karena banyaknya pesantren yang telah lama berkembang namun pondok pesantren Al-Mu’awanah dengan lingkungan yang sederhana dan fasilitas yang minim dapat menghasilkan santri-santri yang pandai dalam meningkatkatkan kreatifitas sehingga dapat meraih berbagai prestasi dan memiliki berbagai keahlian sehingga menjadi kebanggaan bagi pondok pesantren dan juga bagi keluarganya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan pengelola pondok dalam meningkatkan kreatifitas santri serta untuk mengetahui motivasi dan program yang ada dipondok pesantren Al-Mu’awanah dalam meningkatkan kreatifitas santri. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif, karena tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan dan memberikan penjelasan tentang strategi pengembangan dipondok Al-Mu’awanah dalam meningkatkan kreatifitas santri. Langkah yang ditempuh dalam penelitian yaitu menentukan lokasi penelitian, metode penelitian, jenis data, sumber data, teknik pengumpulan data dan menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pengelola pondok Al-Mu’awanah mampu meningkatkan kreatifitas santrinya sehingga sebagian besar santri dapat mengikuti berbagai program dipondok pesantren Al-Mu’awanah dengan baik dan lancar dan menciptakan berbagai kreatifitas santri sehinga santri mendapat penghargaan dari pondok dan kebanggaan bagi keluarganya. Serta dengan motivasi yang diberikan pengelola pondok baik dengan memberikan reward, hukuman terhadap santri yang melanggar, menyelenggarakan fasilitas pondok dan menyelenggarakan berbagai program kegiatan pondok sehingga mampu meningkatkan kreatifitas santri dipondok pesantren Al-Mu’awanah. The problem of this research is to analyze the development strategies used by Al-Mu'awanah Islamic boarding schools in increasing the creativity of santri, because there are many pesantren that have long been developing but Al-Mu'awanah Islamic boarding schools with simple environments and minimal facilities but can produce santri who are clever in increasing creativity so they can achieve various achievements and have various skills so that it becomes a pride for Islamic boarding schools and also for their families. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of cottage management in increasing the creativity of santri and to find out the motivations and programs available at the boarding of Al-Mu'awanah Islamic boarding school in increasing the creativity of santri. The method used in this study is descriptive method, because the purpose of this study is to describe, and provide an explanation of the development strategy in Al-Mu'awanah in increasing students' creativity. The steps taken in the research are determining the location of research, research methods, data types, data sources, data collection techniques, and finally analyzing. The results of this study indicate that the manager of Al-Mu'awanah cottage is able to increase the creativity of his santri so that most santri can take part in various programs at the Al-Mu'awanah boarding school smoothly and create a variety of santri creations so that the santri gets appreciation from the hut and pride for his family . As well as the motivation given by the management of the lodge both by giving rewards, punishing the violating santri, holding cottage facilities and holding various cottage activities programs so as to increase the creativity of santri boarded by Al-Mu’awanah Islamic boarding schools.
Komik merupakan media kontenporer yang berkembang dengan pesat pada meda sosial masa kini. Komik strip pada akun instagram @Blackmetalistiqomah, memiliki tujuan untuk menyiarkan dakwah Islam. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan lebih dalam mengenai komik sebagai media dakwah. Mendalami aspek meteri dakwah dan metode dakwah pada komik strip di akun instagram @Blackmetalistiqomah. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif, semiotika Charles S Pierche. Pada komik @Blackmetalistiqomah memiliki hubungan isyarat, objek dan makna. Tanda berkaitan dengan objek yang meyerupainya dan menghasilkan sebab akibat. Setiap penggambaran dalam komik memiliki unsur ikun, ideks dan simbol yang memiliki unsur dari dakwah. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Materi dakwah telah digambar oleh komikus, memiliki pola yang berlandaskan Al-Quran dan hadis. Setelah materi sudah terbentuk maka komikus yaitu Achmad Deptian merepresentasikan melalui gambar-gambar yang lebih menarik perhatian anak-anak muda, menggunaka bahasa yang sederhana, materi yang ringan. Metode yang digunakan pada Black Metal Istiqomah dalam menyampaikan pesan islam menggunakan tiga metode yaitu bil hikmah, Al-Mauidzha Alh-Hasanah, Bit-Tadwin. ABSTRACT Comics is a content media that is growing rapidly at present. Strip comics on the @Blackmetalistiqomah instagram account have the purpose of broadcasting Islamic propaganda. The purpose of this research is to explain more about comics as a medium of da'wah. Deepening aspects of da'wah method and method of da'wah on comic strips on @Blackmetalistiqomah instagram account. This study uses descriptive analysis, Charles S Pierche's semiotics. In the comic @Blackmetalistiqomah has a signal, object and meaning relationship. The sign is related to the object that resembles it and produces cause and effect. Each depiction in comics has elements of icon, ideks and symbols that have elements of da'wah. The results of the study show that the da'wah material has been drawn by comic artists, has a pattern based on the Quran and hadith. After the material has been formed, the comic artist, Achmad Deptian, represents through drawings that attract the attention of young people, using simple language, light material. The method used in Black Metal Istiqomah in conveying the message of Islam uses three methods, namely bil hikmah, Al-Mauidzha Alh-Hasanah, and Bit-Tadwin.
