Bu araştırma, pediatri kliniklerinde çalışan hemşirelerin mesleki örgütlenme ve mesleki örgütler/dernekler ile ilgili görüşlerinin belirlenmesi, mesleki derneklere üye olmalarını engelleyen faktörler ve mesleki derneklerden beklentilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. YÖNTEM: Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu araştırma 15 Ocak-15 Şubat 2013 tarihleri arasında Trabzon'da bir üniversite hastanesinin pediatri kliniklerinde çalışan ve araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü olan 63 hemşire ile yürütülmüştür. Veriler anket formu ile yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma için hastane başhekimliğinden izin alınmıştır. Verilerin analizinde sayı, yüzdelik dağılımı, ortalama ve ki-kare testi kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel anlamlılık sınırı p<0.05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. BULGULAR: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin %79,4'ünün mesleki örgütler/dernekler hakkında bilgisi varken, %50,8'i herhangi bir mesleki örgüte/derneğe üyedir. En sık bilinen mesleki örgüt/dernek Türk Hemşireler Derneği (%82,5) ve en sık üye olunan sendikal örgüt Sağlık Sen'dir(%36,5). Hemşirelerin %90,5'i mesleki örgütlerin/derneklerin gerekli olduğunu düşünmektedir. Hemşirelerin mesleki örgütlerden/ derneklerden beklentileri; hemşirelerin haklarının korunması (%84,1), hemşireliğin saygınlığını artıran girişimlerde bulunulması (%84,1)'dır. Hemşirelerin mesleki örgütlere/derneklere üye olmasını engelleyen faktörler; mesleki örgütün/derneğin kendini yeterince tanıtamaması (%65,1), mesleki örgütün/derneğin yararı olmadığını düşünme (%46,0), mesleki örgüt/dernek çalışanları ile iletişim kuramama (%42,9) bulunmuştur. Hemşirelerin yaş durumuna göre herhangi bir mesleki örgüte/derneğe üye olma durumu (p=0,250) ve meslekte toplam çalışma yılına göre mesleki örgüte/derneğe üye olma arasında (p=0,166) anlamlı fark saptanmamıştır. SONUÇ: Hemşirelerin mesleki örgütler/dernekler hakkında bilgisinin olması üye olmalarını sağlamamıştır. Hemşirelerde örgüt kültürü yeterince gelişmemiş/geliştirilememiştir. Hemşirelerin çoğu üye olmaya ilişkin tüm girişimleri mesleki örgütlerden/derneklerden beklemektedir.
