With the help of an example it is shown that there is a need for simulation languages for combined continuous and discrete models. Giving an overview of some necessary language constructs, the new COSMOS simulation language is presented. COSMOS is a process oriented simulation language, and as such it has inherited some of the language constructs of SIMULA. The power of the language is illustrated by two examples, describing models where the number of active copies of the processes varies during the simulation period.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
