O gênero Butia, nativo da América do Sul, abrange 21 espécies, 20 com ocorrência no Brasil. As espécies desse gênero são bastante polimórficas e apresentam formas intermediárias, o que dificulta a compreensão da delimitação taxonômica. Além disso, há uma carência em estudo que auxilie no entendimento dos padrões em relação à variabilidade genética. A utilização de caracteres morfológicos é parâmetro importante em estudos taxonômicos e de diversidade genética, contribuindo em estratégias de conservação e melhoramento genético. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar e correlacionar características morfométricas das espécies Butia exilata Deble & Marchiori e Butia lallemantti Deble & Marchiori. Foram analisados 12 caracteres morfológicos em 44 matrizes provenientes de quatro populações. A análise estatística com determinação dos valores de média, variância e correlação linear de Pearson foi realizada com o auxílio do software Genes. Os maiores e os menores valores de média e de variância da massa do fruto, diâmetro longitudinal do fruto, diâmetro equatorial do fruto e massa do mesocarpo foram encontrados respectivamente na população de Sarandi (1) e na população de Alegrete (4). O maior número de correlações altas foi encontrado na população (1), seguida respectivamente da população de Manoel Viana (3), São Francisco de Assis (2) e Alegrete (4). A massa do fruto, o diâmetro equatorial do fruto e a massa do mesocarpo se correlacionaram altamente nas quatro populações analisadas.
A família Arecaceae, reconhecida mundialmente pela sua importância econômica e ambiental, está em franco declínio populacional devido, principalmente, a ação antropogênica. Este trabalho consiste em uma revisão ampla das publicações científicas sobre a Família e, mais especificamente, dos gêneros Butia (Becc.) Becc. e Syagrus Mart. Aqui reunimos, organizamos e compilamos características botânicas e aspectos biogeográficos dos gêneros mencionados, com o objetivo de fundamentar trabalhos de pesquisa sobre alternativas viáveis à conservação dessas palmeiras e o atendimento das demandas de mercado por mudas dessas espécies tropicais. Uma alternativa proposta é o desenvolvimento de metodologias de hibridização entre esses dois gêneros, a fim de se obter respostas desejáveis para a finalidade comercial e, ao mesmo tempo, implementar planos de preservação para as populações de palmeiras nativas. Os dados levantados foram obtidos a partir de literatura científica em sites e revistas, no período de junho de 2019 a março de 2021. As buscas envolveram obras de 1970 a 2021. Nesta pesquisa exploratória, é primordial enfatizar a importância da interpretação e das opiniões dos pesquisadores, de forma que seja possível integrá-los às obras, proporcionando uma fundamentação teórica que dê sustentação a uma discussão a respeito do tema proposto.
Pertencentes à família Arecaceae, as espécies: Butia lallemantii e Syagrus romanzoffiana, conhecidos respectivamente por butiá-anão e jerivá, são de alto valor econômico e cultural. Ocorrem no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul e ambas das espécies coabitam a localidade do Cerro do Tigre- Alegrete/RS, tal que possibilitou o cruzamento entre as espécies, originando o híbrido interespecífico natural x Butyagrus alegretensis. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar e comparar morfometrias entre os indivíduos das três espécies, visto que trabalhos utilizando caracteres morfológicos são importantes no processo de identificação de espécies. Foram coletados dados de oito variáveis: de cinco indivíduos de cada espécie, totalizando quinze matrizes. Para a obtenção dos dados estatísticos: média, análise de variância, matriz de correlação e teste comparativo de médias foi utilizado o software Genes. Referente as médias os indivíduos representantes de S. romanzoffiana foram superiores, seguidos por B alegretensis e B. lallemantii respectivamente, na analise de correlação identificou-se que comprimento do pecíolo é um bom caractere na diferenciação das espécies, além de que se pode observar que estatisticamente a espécie híbrida se assemelha mais com o parental B. lallemantii. Espera-se que a utilização destes dados possa auxiliar na identificação das espécies e sirvam como base para futuros trabalhos que visem a melhor elucidação dessas espécies.
Butia lallemantii Deble & Marchiori é uma palmeira anã típica de regiões arenosas e de elevações areníticas do bioma Pampa. Apresenta potencial econômico e uma grande importância ecológica. No entanto, as informações científicas ainda são insuficientes para utilização da espécie em programas de melhoramento genético e conservação. Nesse sentido, o objetivo do estudo foi quantificar a diversidade genética dentro e entre populações de B. lallemantii. Para isso, foram utilizadas três populações: São Francisco de Assis (1), Manoel Viana (2) e Alegrete (3). Dentro de cada população, foram avaliadas as seguintes características: massa do fruto (MF), diâmetro longitudinal do fruto (DLF), diâmetro equatorial do fruto (DEF), massa do pirênio (MP), diâmetro longitudinal do pirênio (DLP), diâmetro equatorial do pirênio (DEP) e massa do mesocarpo (MM). Na análise entre populações, além dos componentes de frutos, foi avaliada a altura da planta (AP), comprimento da folha (CFA), comprimento do folíolo (CFO), número de folíolos (NFO), número de frutos por infrutescência (NFI). As variáveis que mais contribuíram para a diversidade genética dentro e entre as populações foram MF, MP e MM. Houve maior diversidade genética dentro das populações do que entre as populações. O DLF foi a variável que apresentou maiores valores de correlações dentro das populações e o DLF e DLP foram as variáveis com maiores valores de correlações entre as populações. Os métodos de agrupamentos permitiram identificar populações e genótipos divergentes, que poderão ser utilizados em pesquisas de melhoramento e conservação da espécie.
Objetivou-se identificar as variáveis morfométricas que contribuem para a dissimilaridade entre as espécies Butia exilata Deble & Marchiori e Butia lallemantii Deble & Marchiori utilizando análise euclidiana. Para tanto, foram utilizados 11 genótipos da espécie B. exilata, proveniente do munícipio de Sarandi, RS (população 1) e 33 genótipos da espécie B. lallemantii provenientes dos municípios de São Francisco de Assis, RS (população 2), Manoel Viana, RS (população 3) e Alegrete, RS (população 4). Foram mensurados doze caracteres: altura da planta (AP), comprimento da folha (CFA), comprimento do folíolo (CFO), número de folíolos (NFO), número de frutos por infrutescência (NFI), massa dos frutos (MF), diâmetro longitudinal do fruto (DLF), diâmetro equatorial do fruto (DEF), massa do pirênio (MP), diâmetro longitudinal do pirênio (DLP), diâmetro equatorial do pirênio (DEP) e massa do mesocarpo (MM). Depois de calculadas as médias, os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise multivariada utilizando a distância Euclidiana média no software Genes. O dendograma obtido através do método de agrupamento da distância média UPGMA formou dois grupos. Um formado pela população 1 e outro grupo formado pelas populações 2, 3 e 4. O valor de correlação cofenética (CCC) encontrado foi de 0,9446, o que demonstrou um alto ajuste entre os dados da matriz de dissimilaridade e o dendograma obtido pelo método (UPGMA). A variável MP apresentou maior contribuição para dissimilaridade, seguida da variável NFI, sucedida das variáveis DEF, MF e DLF.
