Los libros parroquiales se han convertido en el último tiempo en registros de gran importancia para el estudio de la sociedad colonial, especialmente, en lo que concierne a relevar el papel de los sujetos y familias subalternas en el desarrollo de su propia historia. A partir de este panorama, se examina la condición marginal atribuida a un conjunto disímil de anotaciones durante una investigación histórica. Este articulo analiza los libros de la Parroquia de la Plaza de Valdivia y sus partidas sacramentales inscritas entre los años de 1770 y 1830, problematizando uno de estos registros, donde el nombre de un cacique es seguido por la referencia a un “alias”. Esta inscripción se explica como la marca espectral de un registro nominal de alianzas políticas establecidas mediante la institución del laku. El objetivo es exponer una lectura de los libros parroquiales que considere en su análisis el carácter heterogéneo de sus anotaciones, así como también, plantear el estudio de estos registros desde un marco de referencia que enfatice en el fenómeno colonial como una superposición y captura entre archivos distintos.
