This article tries approaching the role of the preachers in the funeral of the Monarchs that took place in the Cathedral of Palencia in the 18 th century, emphasizing the involvement of some of its members with the civil power. There is no doubt in the role of the Church in the organization of the funeral ceremony where, inevitably, the person who pronounced the sermon acquires great relevance. This preaching is usually for a Canon. This work is dedicated to the analysis of these characters and their life trajectories in the bosom of the chapter enclosure.
