CORRELATION STUDY BETWEEN IMPACT ENERGY AND THICKNESS OF CHARPY-V TEST SPECIMENS AbstractAbrasion-resistant steels have high hardness, being widely used in applications where the component is subjected to conditions which require high mechanical resistance and high wear resistance. This material can be used on the manufacture of road equipment, agricultural implements and in the mining industry. This paper analyzes the influence of the thickness on Charpy-V specimens on the absorbed energy of abrasion-resistant steels 450HB series. Test specimens have been machined according to ASTM E23 [1] dimensions. The results demonstrate a reduction in impact toughness values when decreasing thickness, explaining the importance of the use of relative absorbed energy method for the analysis of the test results varying thickness.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
