La endometriosis es una patología frecuente, crónica, estrógeno-dependiente, que se caracteriza por la proliferación de glándulas endometriales funcionales y estroma fuera de la cavidad uterina. Si bien la prevalencia varía según la población de estudio, aproximadamente el 10% de las mujeres en edad reproductiva en todo el mundo tienen endometriosis.
