El uso de luz UVC combinada con TiO2 puede ser una medida efectiva para combatir la propagación del COVID-19 y reducir la posibilidad de contagio en lugares públicos, hospitales, centros educativos, mediante la desinfección de superficies y medios de transporte donde la salud humana está en riesgo. De este modo, el recubrimiento de TiO2 al ser un compuesto químicamente estable, difícil de deteriorarse, con potencial oxidante capaz de destruir la membrana celular de las bacterias, provocando fugas del citoplasma, es capaz de coagular la proteína de virus e inhibir su actividad, por lo que puede ser un método muy prometedor para la desinfección del virus SARS-CoV-2.
Esta propuesta busca la manera de combatir el esparcimiento del virus COVID-19, por lo que se ha optado por la fabricación de una serie de dispositivos para llevar a cabo una desinfección de superficies con la ayuda de luz UVC+TiO2.
