The term “gut-brain axis” has been widely used in the study of communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the central nervous system, a vital relationship for the maintenance of homeostasis and whose imbalance can result in changes in the response to stress and in behavior. This review aims to present and discuss the findings of studies about the gut-brain axis and the possible relationship between intestinal dysbiosis and mental disorders. The guiding question was: "How can intestinal health affect the brain and its functioning?" Of fifty articles found, seven were selected to integrate this review, all published in English. The findings of all articles discussed in this review demonstrate a direct and significant impact of the intestinal microbiota on the central nervous system, observing behaviors related to anxiety, depression and stress in the face of changes in the microbiota.
A qualidade de vida foi verificada por meio do questionário European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer – Quality of Life Questionnaire Core-30.
The material of a combustion chamber is subjected to high thermal and mechanical fatigue that can result in premature failure. Nevertheless, there is very little information in the literature concerning its characterization. In this work, the study of some properties of the copper combustion chambers in water heaters throughout their life cycle is described. The microstructure, hardness, morphology, mechanical strength and roughness were evaluated, from the pristine copper sheet to a chamber subjected to 53,000 cycles. Throughout the whole cycle, changes were detected in the organization of the crystalline structure. Both after conformation and after completing the manufacturing process, the material exhibits a preferential orientation according to the direction [110], which is the most favorable to degradation of the material by thermal fatigue. The prevalence of the less dense crystallographic planes of the material in all stages of the life cycle allowed a better diffusion of the oxidant species facilitating the corrosion of the material. The oxidation products did not form a passivated layer and detached from the bulk copper, causing a progressive deterioration of the material.
For gray literature, Open Green and Base search and hand search repositories, which is a free search for materials that address the subject were searched. Results: The selected publications totaled 537, of which 104 were from the electronic databases and 433 records identified through other databases. After the removal of duplicates, 113 titles and abstracts and 37 complete texts were selected, after reading the articles in full, 14 articles were selected for inclusion in this review. Out of the 14 articles analyzed, relevant results were presented for a diet rich in fruits and vegetables; oleaginous, especially nuts; a Mediterranean diet was noted in three studies; dietary guidelines based on guides was mentioned in two studies and a high-protein diet was cited four times. Conclusion: The most effective diet for weight loss was the high fiber diet, although it contributes with small percentage value.
Introduction: Due to the various changes that have occurred in people’s diet and lifestyle, there is an increase in the prevalence of overweight, as well as an increased risk and development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). It is important to assess the quality of food, to know it and to develop appropriate interventions, especially for workers, since they eat most of their meals away from home and are at risk for CVD. The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional status, the quality of the diet and its relationship with CVD in meat industry workers. Methods: Crosssectional study conducted from October to December 2017. Forms were used, anthropometric and dietary evaluation of workers of a meat industry in the municipality of Pitanga, Paraná, Brazil. Nutrabem® software was used to calculate and evaluate food consumption, which determined the descriptive values of the diet quality index (IQD), based on the food groups according to the food pyramid. The IQD was divided into three categories: 80 to 100 points - healthy diet, 50 to 79 points - needs adjustments in the eating pattern, less than 49 points inadequate diet. Results: 55 employees were included with a mean age of 32.2 ± 9.92 years, predominantly male (67.3%), average body mass index of 27.05 ± 4.90 kg/m², with values in the group at risk of CVD according to waist-to-height ratio. The average IQD was 52.0 ± 10.9 points, with 40% (n = 22) of employees classified with inadequate diet and 60% (n = 33) needing adjustment in diet, women showed a tendency to diet. inadequate compared to men (p <0.05). Conclusion: Nutritional status, age and caloric intake was related to the quality of the diet and the risk for CVD. It is important the nutritional monitoring and intervention actions with the working class.
