El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar las concepciones iniciales de Pensamiento Crítico y Creativo de futuros profesores de ciencias de secundaria. Esta investigación constituye el punto de partida de un proyecto más amplio que considera diferentes aspectos para el análisis de las estrategias aplicadas para el desarrollo de Pensamiento Crítico y Creativo (PCCr) en las unidades didácticas que elaboran los docentes en su etapa de formación inicial. En este estudio participaron 30 estudiantes del Máster de Formación de Profesorado de Educación Secundaria (MFPES) de las especialidades de ciencias experimentales de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (España). El instrumento utilizado para el análisis fue un cuestionario semiestructurado basado en una Escala de Habilidades de Pensamiento Crítico y Creativo (EHPCCr) desarrollada en un trabajo previo y conformada por 3 componentes que agrupan 8 habilidades: Contexto (comprensión), Razonamiento (análisis, evaluación, inferencia, explicación y aproximación al contexto) y Metacognición (autorregulación y autonomía intelectual), organizados en orden creciente de complejidad. Se realizó un análisis mixto de los datos (cuantitativo y cualitativo) y se obtuvo como resultado una caracterización de las concepciones de Pensamiento Crítico y Creativo de los estudiantes que muestra una clara tendencia a considerar solo el Razonamiento y las habilidades que lo componen. Con este resultado también se logró una primera validación de la funcionalidad de la escala como instrumento de diagnóstico.
