Los cambios galopantes en todos los niveles y aristas, que se dan en un mundo cada vez más globalizado, obligan implícita y explícitamente a generar profesionales que deben desenvolverse en un ambiente altamente competitivo. La academia, y en particular la educación superior tienen la tarea de ofertar a la sociedad, profesionales competitivos, éticos, dinámicos, holísticos y humanistas. En correspondencia con aquello, la Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo (U.T.E.Q.), tiene entre sus indicadores de evaluación, actividades de seguimiento a los estudiantes graduados de sus aulas. El presente trabajo describe a través de un estudio muestral y de campo, la realidad laboral de los estudiantes graduados en la carrera Marketing de la U.T.E.Q., durante los años 2006 hasta el 2017, en el cual se pretende evidenciar los aspectos positivos, negativos y sujetos a mejoras que desde la academia se puede tributar para el progreso en las condiciones socioeconómicas de los estudiantes y la sociedad en general. La revolución digital y el apogeo de los servicios requieren evolucionar respecto los modelos clásicos del marketing que en muchos ambientes siguen dominando.
Las políticas públicas del Ecuador en la actualidad se encuentran encaminadas a generar una cultura emprendedora, basándose en las necesidades económicas, sociales y culturales del país. Se busca desde diferentes aristas fomentar el espíritu emprendedor e innovador en el aprovechamiento de oportunidades de negocio, que permitan al país dar el salto trascendental en el proceso de transformación de su matriz productiva; cambiar el patrón de extractivismo por uno de economía del conocimiento y de recursos ilimitados, requiere no solo de políticas que faciliten este proceso, sino que esto representa para el país un gran reto; mucho más cuando el mundo vive un proceso de globalización basado en la revolución tecnológica, donde el conocimiento y la estrategia son elementos subyacentes, en tal virtud se ha considerado necesario conocer cuánta capacidad innovadora sostienen los emprendimientos en el cantón Quevedo y su relación con los niveles de competitividad. El objetivo fue evaluar los grados de acceso a la innovación en la búsqueda de la competitividad, como elemento decisivo del emprendimiento y de la transformación productiva en el Ecuador, específicamente en el cantón Quevedo. Se logró tener un acercamiento a la realidad de los pequeños negocios quevedeños; a través de un estudio documental y descriptivo, aplicación de encuestas a 63 microempresas afiliadas a la Cámara de Comercio de Quevedo y entrevista a la presidenta de esta entidad. Se pudo evidenciar que los niveles de innovación son muy bajos o inexistentes; siendo únicos patrones de diferenciación las variables precio y calidad en el servicio.
