El presente artículo tiene como objetivo ofrecer una aproximación al diseño metodológico mixto en investigación, el cual se identifica como poco estudiado y aplicado en el ámbito de las Ciencias Sociales. Para ello se describen los enfoques cuantitativo y cualitativo, y se ofrece una amplia explicación del llamado multimétodo. El enfoque utilizado para esta investigación fue cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo, y basado en la técnica de análisis documental de 132 estudios publicados en los últimos 5 años, registrados en el Repositorio Institucional de una universidad pública mexicana. El mayor aporte del estudio son 10 interrogantes relacionadas con el método mixto, así como la propuesta de 9 apartados que deben conformar la metodología de cualquier investigación. Concluyéndose que el multimétodo no consiste en la combinación de enfoques, sino en su integración holística, cuya comprensión e interpretación debe ir más allá de la simple suma de dos paradigmas.
Este artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar las herramientas tecnológicas en línea más populares que permiten la planificación y realización de viajes y cuáles son usadas por el estudiantado universitario que se está formando como profesional en Turismo, reconociendo como problema en el ámbito educativo el desconocimiento de las tecnologías utilizadas por el segmento de alumnos y considerando sus efectos en el proceso enseñanza y aprendizaje en un campo dominado por dichas herramientas. Como parte de los fundamentos teóricos se considera el Determinismo Tecnológico, y como método de análisis un enfoque mixto -cuantitativo y cualitativo- para conocer cómo hace turismo online la juventud, qué tecnologías prefiere y qué condiciones determinan sus formas de viajar. Dicha metodología abarcó la aplicación de las técnicas de cuestionario digital y Grupo Focal; la encuesta comprendió una muestra de 236 estudiantes de todos los semestres de la Licenciatura en Turismo de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, y el Focus Group integrado por un total de 10 jóvenes del periodo 2017A. Como parte de los resultados fueron identificadas las herramientas que utilizan comúnmente para comunicarse y buscar información en Internet antes de realizar un viaje; las tecnologías que facilitan la personalización de sus desplazamientos y lo que requieren conocer de Internet para facilitar la realización del turismo y el E-commerce. En las conclusiones se sintetiza qué hace falta conocer en la Universidad en términos de tecnologías para enseñar y aprender durante la formación profesional y así favorecer la realización del E-Tourism.
