Ferroelectric glass-ceramics of composition 0.90 (Ba 0.7 Sr 0.3 ) TiO 3 -0.10(B 2 O 3 :SiO 2 ) (0.90 BST:0.10 BS) synthesized by sol-gel method have been used for the preparation of dielectric thick-film inks. The particle dispersion of the glass-ceramic powders in the thick-film ink formulations have been studied through rheological measurements for fabricating thick-film capacitors by screen printing technique. The thick films derived from such glass-ceramics are found to sinter at considerably lower temperatures than the pure ceramic, and exhibit good dielectric characteristics with a tunability of 32% at 1 MHz under a dc bias field of 35 kV/cm.
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) have mechanical properties that vary continuously from one phase to another within a confined volume. In general, these materials exhibit certain amount of scatter in their properties due to different factors. The dispersion in the response values of a structure is due to the scatter in the values of material properties and applied external load. For design purposes, it is essential to know the potential variations in the structural response due to the system material or external randomness. In the present work, free vibration and static analysis on FGM structures with material randomness are considered.
A structure is an assembly of various elements or components which are fastened together through some type of connections. Steel beam column connection may fail due to large earth quake. Plastic hinge formation is the main failure of a steel beam column connection. There are two methods for improving the steel beam column connection (i) connection reinforcement/strengthening (ii) beam weakening by reducing the cross-sectional area of the beam at a certain distance from the connection. When reducing the cross section area plastic hinge is formed away from column face. The main objective of this study is to compare reduced beam section (RBS) and reduced web section (RWS) pattern and find out the location of plastic hinge. For steel beam column plastic hinge is located near column. When reducing the cross section area the location of plastic hinge will shift from the column. Aim of this project is to locate the position of plastic hinge apart from column face, and also evaluate the stress and deformation.
