Herein, we demonstrated a surface-passivated Ag/ CdS/Ag photodetector device fabricated using nanocrystalline CdS thin films deposited via the spray pyrolysis method. Surface passivation with nitrocellulose enhances the photosensitivity by 26,000 times and reduces the rise/decay time substantially to 0.4/ 0.6 ms. The rise in photosensitivity and ultrafast photoresponse time of the nitrocellulose-coated photodetector, as compared with the uncoated photodetector (27 and 1.4 ms), are due to the suppression of the surface sulfur vacancy defects, thus increasing the concentration of photogenerated free carriers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
