This paper simply presents a fully automated breast cancer detection system as “Deep Multi-view Breast cancer Detection” based on deep transfer learning. The deep transfer learning model i.e., Visual Geometry Group 16 (VGG 16) is used in this approach for the correct classification of Breast thermal images into either normal or abnormal. This VGG 16 model is trained with the help of Static as well as Dynamic breast thermal images dataset consisting of multi-view, single view breast thermal images. These Multi-view breast thermal images are generated in this approach by concatenating the conventional left, frontal and right view breast thermal images taken from the Database for Mastology Research with Infrared image for the first time in order to generate a more informative and complete thermal temperature map of breast for enhancing the accuracy of the overall system. For the sake of genuine comparison, three other popular deep transfer learning models like Residual Network 50 (ResNet50V2), InceptionV3 network and Visual Geometry Group 19 (VGG 19) are also trained with the same augmented dataset consisting of multi-view as well as single view breast thermal images. The VGG 16 based Deep Multi-view Breast cancer Detect system delivers the best training, validation as well as testing accuracies as compared to their other deep transfer learning models. The VGG 16 achieves an encouraging testing accuracy of 99% on the Dynamic breast thermal images testing dataset utilizing the multi-view breast thermal images as input. Whereas the testing accuracies of 95%, 94% and 89% are achieved by the VGG 19, ResNet50V2, InceptionV3 models respectively over the Dynamic breast thermal images testing dataset utilizing the same multi-view breast thermal images as input.
The two most generally diagnosed Neurodegenerative diseases are the Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. So this paper presents a fully automated early screening system based on the Capsule network for the classification of these two Neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, we hypothesized that the Neurodegenerative diseases-Caps system based on the Capsule network architecture accurately performs the multiclass i.e. three class classification into either the Alzheimer class or Parkinson class or Healthy control and delivers better results in comparison other deep transfer learning models. The real motivation behind choosing the capsule network architecture is its more resilient nature towards the affine transformations as well as rotational & translational invariance, which commonly persists in the medical image datasets. Apart from this, the capsule networks overcomes the pooling layers related deficiencies from which conventional CNNs are mostly affected and unable to delivers accurate results especially in the tasks related to image classification. The various Computer aided systems based on machine learning for the classification of brain tumors and other types of cancers are already available. Whereas for the classification of Neurodegenerative diseases, the amount of research done is very limited and the number of persons suffering from this type of diseases are increasing especially in developing countries like India, China etc. So there is a need to develop an early screening system for the correct multiclass classification into Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Normal or Healthy control cases. The Alzheimer disease and Parkinson progression (ADPP) dataset is used in this research study for the training of the proposed Neurodegenerative diseases-Caps system. This ADPP dataset is developed with the aid of both the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and Alzheimer's disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) databases. There is no such early screening system exist yet, which can perform the accurate classification of these two Neurodegenerative diseases. For the sake of genuine comparison, other popular deep transfer learning models like VGG19, VGG16, ResNet50 and InceptionV3 are implemented and also trained over the same ADPP dataset. The proposed Neurodegenerative diseases-Caps system deliver accuracies of 97.81, 98, 96.81% for the Alzheimer, Parkinson and Healthy control or Normal cases with 70/30 (training/validation split) and performs way better as compare to the other popular Deep transfer learning models.
This review study presents the state-of-the-art machine and deep learning-based COVID-19 detection approaches utilizing the chest X-rays or computed tomography (CT) scans. This study aims to systematically scrutinize as well as to discourse challenges and limitations of the existing state-of-the-art research published in this domain from March 2020 to August 2021. This study also presents a comparative analysis of the performance of four majorly used deep transfer learning (DTL) models like VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, and DenseNet over the COVID-19 local CT scans dataset and global chest X-ray dataset. A brief illustration of the majorly used chest X-ray and CT scan datasets of COVID-19 patients utilized in state-of-the-art COVID-19 detection approaches are also presented for future research. The research databases like IEEE Xplore, PubMed, and Web of Science are searched exhaustively for carrying out this survey. For the comparison analysis, four deep transfer learning models like VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, and DenseNet are initially fine-tuned and trained using the augmented local CT scans and global chest X-ray dataset in order to observe their performance. This review study summarizes major findings like AI technique employed, type of classification performed, used datasets, results in terms of accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, F1 score, etc., along with the limitations, and future work for COVID-19 detection in tabular manner for conciseness. The performance analysis of the four majorly used deep transfer learning models affirms that Visual Geometry Group 19 (VGG19) model delivered the best performance over both COVID-19 local CT scans dataset and global chest X-ray dataset.
This chapter simply encapsulates the basics of image restoration, various noise models, and degradation model including some blur and image restoration filters. The mining of high resolution information from the low-resolution images is a very vital task in several applications of digital image processing. In recent times, a lot of research work has been carried out in this field in order to improve the resolution of real medical images especially when the given images are corrupted with some kind of noise. The displayed images are the result of the various stages that might cause imperfections in the digital images, for instance the so-called imaging and capturing process can itself degrade the original scene. The imperfections present in the image need to be studied and analyzed if the noise present in the images is not modelled properly. There are different types of degradations which are considered such as noise, geometrical degradations, imperfections (due to improper illumination and color), and blur. Blurring in the images is generally caused by the relative motion between the camera and the original object being captured or due to poor focusing of an optical system. In the production of aerial photographs for remote sensing purposes, blurs are introduced by the atmospheric turbulence, aberrations in the optical system, and relative motion between the camera and the ground. Apart from the blurring effect, noise also creates imperfections in the images that corrupt the images under analysis. The noise may be introduced by several factors (e.g., medium, recording or capturing system, or by the quantization process). Due to this noise or blur present in the images, resolution needs to be improved and the image is to be restored from the geometrically warped, blurred, and noisy images.
Energy plays a pivotal role in our daily activities. The degree of development and civilization of a country ismeasured by the amount of utilization of energy by human beings. Energy demand is increasing day by day due to increase in population, urbanization and industrialization. The rate of energy consumption is increasing; supply is depleting resulting in inflation and energy shortage. The biggest crisis we are handling into is the climate change due to excessive use of fossil fuels and to overcome these issues, we have only one solution that is utilizing renewable Energy. One of the most prominent kinds of renewable energy issolar energy. The goal of this thesis was to develop a laboratory prototype of a solar tracking system, which is able to enhance the performance of the photovoltaic modules in a solar energy system. The operating principle of the device is to keep the photovoltaic modules constantly aligned with the sunbeams, which maximizes the exposure of solar panel to the Sun’s radiation. As a result, more output power can be produced bythe solar panel.
