In the our sample, 51.1% of students reported pain and 38.93% reported pain in only one region. There was no association between the presence of pain and sex, BMI, how to carry school supplies, postures used in ADLs and postural changes. The increasing age and physical exercise influenced significantly the presence of pain.
Introdução: Avanços na assistência prestada a recém-nascidos pré-termo e com baixo peso podem deixar prejuízos que comprometem o futuro desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor da criança. Objetivos: revisar a literatura, identificar, selecionar e avaliar criticamente as evidências científicas que divulguem o impacto da prematuridade no desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor do recém-nascido pré-termo. Métodos: Foram consultadas as bases de dados Lilacs, Pubmed e Scielo. Dois revisores independentes realizaram a seleção e análise dos artigos elegíveis e avaliação e construção da revisão, seguidos por mais dois revisores, eliminando assim os possíveis viéses. Resultados: De 26 artigos selecionados, apenas 6 foram utilizados e apenas 1 apresentou o desfecho no estudo, pois poucos estudos preencheram os critérios de inclusão. Conclusão: Apesar da relevância dos resultados e do reduzido número de estudos avaliados, observamos os atrasos no desenvolvimento psicomotor dos bebes pré-termos, e a sugestão de mais estudos nesta área.
The effect of physical activity on the immune system is still poorly understood in cases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Therefore, our aim was to investigate differences in the serum levels of cytokines (IL-2, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 and TNF-α) and the numbers of CD11b + and CXCR2 + neutrophils and lymphocytes in women with SLE undergoing drug treatment, without ( n = 9) or with ( n = 5) 4 months of kinesiotherapy. Parameters related to functional capacity were also analyzed. In the case of the patients who were not submitted to kinesiotherapy, there were reductions in the levels of IL-5, IL-6 and IL-10, and an increase in the number of CD11b + leukocytes, in addition to an increase in abdominal circumference after the monitoring time. Patients submitted to kinesiotherapy did not present changes in serum cytokines or in the numbers of CD11b + and CXCR2 + neutrophils and lymphocytes, but there were increases of flexibility and strength, as well as a reduction in pain sensation after the monitoring time. In conclusion, kinesiotherapy was able to increase flexibility and reduce pain in SLE patients without influencing immune parameters.
OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the probable relationship among plantar arch, lumbar curvature, and low back pain. METHODS: Fifteen healthy women were assessed taking in account personal data and anthropometric measurements, photopodoscopic evaluation of the plantar arch, and biophotogrammetric postural analysis of the patient (both using the SAPO software), as well as evaluation of lumbar pain using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The average age of the participants was 30.45 (±6.25) years. RESULTS: Of the feet evaluated, there were six individuals with flat feet, five with high arch, and four with normal feet. All reported algic syndrome in the lumbar spine, with the highest VAS values for the volunteers with high arch. Correlation was observed between the plantar arch and the angle of the lumbar spine (r = -0.71, p = 0.004) Conclusion: High arch was correlated with more intense algic syndrome, while there was moderate positive correlation between flat foot and increased lumbar curvature, and between high arch and lumbar correction. Introduction: Hip muscle strength has a good component to improve the execution of movement preventing excessive knee movements, such as dynamic valgus, which is a factor related to ACL injuries, however, the relationship between isometric torque and dynamic valgus is not yet well established. Functional tests that resemble sports have been used for movement analysis and possible injury minimizing factor. Objectives: To compare the knee medialization peak in three kinematic tests with different demands, and its correlation with the isometric torque of the abductors and hip extensors. Methods: The isometric torque was collected by the Lafayette hand dynamometer. Twodimensional kinematics were used to evaluate three functional tests of different requirements, Single Limb Squat, Lateral Step Down Test and Single Leg Drop Landing Tests. For comparison between values we used the Student T test and for correlation the Spearman test, with p < 0.05. Results: No significant differences were found between the three right kinematic tests, different from the left. And no relationship was established between the isometric hip torque and none of the three kinematic tests. Conclusion: There is no correlation between the dynamic knee valgus peak during different tests. It is concluded that the isometric torque test does not seem to be as sensitive when related to functional tests, but it has good applicability for comparing strength between limbs.
Avaliação das propriedades mecânicas do músculo gastrocnêmio de ratas imobilizado e submetido à corrente russaMechanical property analysis of the gastrocnemius muscle of rats immobilized and submitted to the Russian current mar. 2009Fisioterapia e Pesquisa, São Paulo, v.16, n.1, p.59-64, jan./mar. 2009 ISSN 1809-2950 RESUMO: A eletroestimulação neuromuscular por corrente russa, recurso utilizado na reabilitação, pode aumentar o trofismo e restabelecer a força muscular, sobretudo dos músculos que apresentam deficit pós-imobilização, como é o caso de lesões durante a prática esportiva. Objetivou-se avaliar as propriedades mecânicas do músculo gastrocnêmio de ratas imobilizadas por 14 dias e posteriormente submetidas à eletroestimulação por corrente russa durante 10 dias. Utilizaram-se 32 ratas Wistar divididas em quatro grupos: controle (G1), imobilizado (G2); imobilizado e liberado por 10 dias (G3) e imobilizado e submetido à corrente russa por 10 dias (G4). A avaliação das propriedades mecânicas -carga, alongamento, rigidez e resiliência -foi feita por ensaio de tração longitudinal. Quanto à carga no limite máximo, o G4 apresentou valores mais elevados quando comparado ao grupo apenas imobilizado (G2, p<0,001), embora sem atingir o valor do G1. Na análise da propriedade de alongamento no limite máximo, G3 e G4 alcançaram valores significativamente maiores que o G2 (p<0,001). No que se refere à rigidez, apenas G2 alcançou valores maiores (p<0,05) que o G1. Quanto à resiliência, G4 apresentou valores inferiores ao grupo controle (p<0,05), mas ainda superiores aos do G2 (p<0,001). Portanto conclui-se que a corrente russa, quando aplicada por 10 dias após 14 dias de imobilização, é benéfica, embora não seja capaz de restabelecer todas as propriedades mecânicas do músculo em nível controle. DESCRITORES: Estimulação elétrica; Imobilização; Músculo esquelético ABSTRACT:Neuromuscular electric stimulation by Russian current, used in rehabilitation, is able to increase muscle trophism and strength, especially in muscles with postimmobilization deficit, as is the case of injuries during sports practice. The purpose here was to assess the gastrocnemius muscle mechanical properties of rats immobilized for 14 days and subjected to electric stimulation by Russian current for 10 days. Thirty two Wistar female rats were divided into four groups: control (G1), immobilized (G2), immobilized and freed (G3), and immobilized and afterwards submitted to Russian current (G4). Mechanical properties -maximum load and stretch, stiffness, and resilience -were assessed by longitudinal traction. As to maximum load, G4 showed higher values when compared to the onlyimmobilized group (G2, p<0.001), though not attaining G1 values. In the analysis of maximum elongation results, G3 and G4 presented significantly higher values than G2 (p<0.001). Concerning stiffness, only G2 reached higher values (p<0.05) than G1. O objetivo do estudo foi correlacionar a força de preensão palmar em diferentes posições de abertura, com variáveis antropométricas da mão. Participaram 73 voluntários de ambos os sexos (40 homens e 33 mulheres), com idade média de 23±4,61 anos. As medidas antropométricas largura da palma, comprimento do dedo indicador, espessura da palma, largura da mão, circunferência da palma e da mão foram realizadas bilateralmente. Para as medidas lineares, utilizou-se um paquímetro digital e, para as medidas de circunferência, a fita métrica. As medidas de força de preensão foram realizadas por meio de um dinamômetro hidráulico (UFTM) Jamar®. Os valores antropométricos foram correlacionados com as medidas de força nas cinco posições de abertura. Os homens e as mulheres tiveram maior força na mão direita e, entre as posições, a maior força dos homens foi na de número 3 (45,5±15,53 kgf) e das mulheres, na de posição 2 (25,5±6,28 kgf). Verificaram-se correlações significativas entre a força e os valores antropométricos nas medidas da largura da mão e circunferência da palma - que representam a maior medida transversal e o maior trofismo da mão, respectivamente, no grupo dos homens e a medida de comprimento do dedo, que representa a maior medida longitudinal no grupo das mulheres. Com isso, pode-se concluir que, para os homens, a maior força está relacionada à maior medida transversal e ao maior trofismo da mão e, para as mulheres, ao maior comprimento longitudinal da mão.
