Objective: to identify the knowledge of nursing professionals at pediatric inpatient units about waste management of health services. Method: this descriptive, exploratory research was developed at two inpatient units of a children's hospital in Southern Brazil. Data collection was carried out between July and August 2014 through questionnaires to 30 nursing team professionals. The data were analyzed in a quantitative and qualitative perspective. Results: the results show that few professionals at the investigated institution know the Health Service Waste Management Program. The majority performs care related to the waste, but does not participate in training on the subject. Conclusion: the training of nursing professionals is critical for the effectiveness of the waste management program at the health institution, favoring proper disposal, facilitating the collection and contributing to environmental preservation.
RESUMO Este estudo objetivou descrever e analisar as ações de autocuidado e os recursos assistenciais utilizados por portadores de hepatite B. Com delineamento qualitativo, exploratório e descritivo, os dados foram coletados mediante entrevistas semiestruturadas e analisados com base no método de análise de conteúdo e em registros de notificação de uma regional de saúde de Florianópolis, com análise de medidas de tendência central. No que se refere às ações de autocuidado, os resultados mostram que, em sua maioria, os entrevistados conheciam o tipo de doença, as formas de transmissão e alguns cuidados necessários; não sabiam identificar a fonte de contaminação; ignoravam a existência de imunização e manifestaram alterações no estado emocional e mudança nos hábitos de vida após o diagnóstico; afirmaram adotar medidas para evitar a transmissão da doença e usar serviços de saúde hospitalar, ambulatorial e de vigilância epidemiológica. O estudo evidencia a necessidade de ampliar e articular a rede de assistência acessada por portadores de hepatite B. O conhecimento produzido aproxima a aplicação da Teoria do Autocuidado aos desvios de saúde sexualmente transmissíveis.
