Abstract. Due to the increase in inflows, mainly because of REUNI procedures, and low completion rate also observed in several programmes on Brazilian universities, it is necessary to identify which factors may cause the students to remain in their programmes longer than expected or even leaving the university before their conclusion. In this work, we hypothesize that the combinations of classes that the students have to do in each semester is not appropriated and can cause student retention, leading to a huge loss to the university. Thus, we present a case study of analyzing retention rules in the Information Systems programme at the Federal University of Bahia. With the resulting rule set obtained from mined student transcripts, we discuss how changes can be made in a programme so as to decrease the student retention rates.
Abstract. Due to the increase in inflows mainly because of REUNI procedures and low completion rates observed at a Federal University, it is necessary to identify which courses may cause the students to remain in their programs longer than expected or even leaving the university before their conclusion. In this work, we suggest that the combinations of courses in a semester may not be appropriate thus causing a student retention. We present a case study on analyzing retention rules in all programs at a Federal University. With the results obtained by mining academic transcripts, we discuss how changes can be made in the flowchart so as to decrease the student retention rates.
In this paper, we present in the first part our proposition for a clarification of the concepts of mapping and transformation in the context of Model Driven Architecture (MDA), and our approach for mapping specification and generation of transformation definition. In the second part, we present the application of our approach from UML to C#. We propose a metamodel for mapping specification and its implementation as a plug-in for Eclipse. Once mappings are specified between two metamodels (e.g. UML and C#), transformation definitions are generated automatically using transformation languages such as Atlas Transformation Language (ATL). We have applied this tool to edit mappings between UML and C# metamodels. Afterwards, we aim to use these mappings to generate ATL code to achieve transformations from UML into C#.
Abstract:The development and use of software based on cloud computing have been highlighted more and more nowadays. Software as a Service (SaaS) is considered as a trend for small, medium and large enterprises. However, SaaS brings some challenges concerning information security. In this context, we propose an approach based on Model-Driven Engineering (MDE), weaving models and security techniques for developing secure software as a service. An illustrative example helps to understand our proposed approach and demonstrates its feasibility and benefits.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
