ABST RACT. This work puts in evidence the emotional involvi ment between the nurser student and his pat ient, and yet the consequences of this in his future profes sional life. The authors based in their cl inic learn ing of Grad uaçiío em Enfermagem e ()bstetrz' cia , debate the difference between the professional and the nursery student relat io � ship with the patient, also analysing the influence of this in the recovery. Includes reflexions about the damage caused by non-acquaintance of the relationship limits, what this brings to both and also about the resources used to overcome the conflicts.

As autoras, mediante observação em trinta pacientes em pós-operatório de Cirurgia Cardíaca, procuraram identificar as expectativas e necessidades dos mesmos ao tem po em que analisaram a assistência prestada pelo enfermeiro. A partir de suas experiências como docente e enfermeiras, avaliaram a prática profissional voltadas principalmente para aquelas necessidades identificadas.
