Science-Fiction-Filme und -Serien setzen sich seit je her auf spekulative Weise mit der Zukunft und ihrem möglichen Verlauf, den sozialen Veränderungen und Konfliktfeldern auseinander, und haben viele Fragen, die mit der Viruserkrankung Covid-19 aufgeworfen wurden, bereits vorausgedacht, durchgearbeitet und versuchsweise beantwortet.
Der Blick auf einschlägige Filme wie Contagion (USA/AE 2011), Children of Men (USA/UK 2006) und Blindness (Die Stadt der Blinden, BR/CA/JP 2008) kann Handlungsoptionen aufzeigen und auf spielerischem Wege auf Konfliktlinien, die im Vorfeld, im Verlauf und im Nachgang von Pandemien gesellschaftlich relevant werden können, verweisen, sodass die aufmerksame und kritische Betrachtung Hilfestellung beim Umgang mit der Pandemie leisten kann.
