Cancer is a lethal disease that is the second leading cause of mortality in the world. According to statistics, prostate cancer is one of the most common types among men. Male hormone androgens, particularly testosterone, are required for normal growth and functioning of the prostate. In prostate cancer, activation of the androgen receptor promotes the growth of cancer cells. The goal of hormonal therapy or androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is to reduce levels of such male hormones in the body or prevent them from stimulating cancer cells. There are many issues that have to be considered before initiation of hormonal therapy which are necessary to be aware of for its prevention and the management in routine clinical practices. In this review article, we emphasis on cardiovascular complications following ADT and certain treatment measures.
Antibiotic resistance (ABR) is a major growing global issue. The WHO report points out high proportions of resistance to common bacterial infections in all regions of the world. Common factors associated with resistance include non-adherence to the prescribed course, improper way of disposing the antibiotics (ABs), misuse and abuse, overuse, and underuse of antibiotics. Another complimenting factor for the increase in the antibiotic resistance is self-medication with antibiotics. This all has caused many infectious diseases to be untreatable. Community pharmacists act as primary source of healthcare information providers to whom the patient directly seeks medical advices. Thus, they can play a central role in ensuring the safer use of antibiotics in the community.
Pregnancy is the period of gestation from the fertilization of the egg, through the development of the foetus and ending in birth. In 70 – 80% of pregnant women, the common disorder is Nausea and vomiting. Unfortunately, early in pregnancy, some women feel nausea and vomiting and some never experience it. Although NVP has a tendency to be dealt with as an ordinary part of pregnancy, it can decrease the quality of life of pregnant women. In contrary to the hardship that NVP for pregnant women, maximum research determined that NVP is related to unfavourable effects for the foetus along with low birth weight and small for gestational age. NVP considerably lessen the quality of life of pregnant women and has big economic effects on patients, caregivers, and society, but this disease could be very frequently and underrated the severity of symptoms for NVP range from mild to moderate nausea and vomiting to pathologic cases of women with a severe form of NVP called hyperemesis gravidarum. Many researchers and articles have been proven out how the quality of life is being negatively affected in pregnancy because of nausea and vomiting This article discusses the importance of measuring the quality of life through questionnaires and on varied diet counselling for nausea and vomiting.
