Background Partograph is the graphic recording for labour management and monitoring of pregnant women in labour pain. The well-plotted data allow the nurse to recognize any abnormal conditions earlier and decide to employ proper actions to the particular pregnant mother in labour pain during the delivery of nursing care. However, its uses have been recommended by WHO among nurses around the globe but it is not fully utilized. This study aimed to determine the level of practice and factors influencing partograph utilization among nurses in Singida, Tanzania. Methods Analytical cross sectional study was conducted involving 150 nurses randomly selected from Sokoine health center and Singida Regional Referral Hospital in Singida municipality, Tanzania from January to February 2020. A self-administered structured questionnaire on partograph use to deliver maternal care among pregnant women was the main data collection tool. The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software program version 23 was used for data entry, screening, processing, and analysis. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed in which findings were presented in tables. Results Out of 150 nurse midwives 58.7% (n = 88) were females. Only 38.7% (n = 58) of the study respondents had a high level of practice on the utilization of partograph during labour monitoring. Their levels of education were identified to be a protective factor because those who had University education were more times likely to practice using partograph when delivering care compared to other lower education levels (AOR = 16.757; 95%CI: 6.394; 43.915; p < 0.01). Also, their professional qualifications were discovered to be a protective factor because nurse officers and midwives officers were more times likely to practice using partograph as compared to other professional qualifications (AOR = 8.323; p = 0.004; 95%CI: 0.098; 0.642). Conclusion This study found that many nurses in Singida municipality had a low level of practice in utilizing partograph when delivering of health care among patients. Continuous and formal supportive supervisions and on job training at national and health facilities need to be emphasized and adhered to promote quality of health services by use of partograph and cost-effective maternal and newborns health.

Background: Exclusive Breastfeeding defined as the infant has to receive only breast milk from his/her mother with the exception of other kinds of food for six months. Exclusive Breastfeeding helps to prevent diseases to infants and it reduces risk of ovarian cancer to mother. Methodology: Descriptive cross sectional study was conducted among 124 lactating mothers with infants aged 6 months to one year attending Magomeni RCH Clinic in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam. Simple random sampling procedure was used to obtain 124 lactating mothers. Data was collected from mothers who agreed to participate and signed the consent form by the use of close ended Swahili version questionnaire on assessing knowledge, practices and factors affecting Exclusive Breastfeeding among Lactating Mothers with Babies aged 6 months to 1 year attending Magomeni Reproductive and Child Health Clinic in Kinondoni district, Dar es Salaam.Result: About 74 (59.7%) respondents had high knowledge on EBF and 92 (74.2%) respondents initiated breastfeeding within one hour after delivery while 77 (62.1%) practiced exclusive breastfeeding. Findings show that 64(51.6%) respondents denied that exclusive breastfeeding causes loss of shape of their breasts while 48 (38.7%) respondents accepted that exclusive breastfeeding causes loss of shape of their breasts. Only 12 (9.7%) respondents didn’t know if EBF causes loss of breasts shape or not. Moreover, 19 (15.3%) respondents had physical difficulties/problems like cracking of nipples, inadequate milk, while 105(84.7%) didn’t get any physical difficult. Therefore there is significant association between mothers belief of losing shapes of their breasts and EBF (p=0.05). Physical difficulties/problems to lactating mothers study is significantly associated with EBF (p = 0.000).Conclusion: The overall knowledge among the lactating mothers with babies aged six months to one year was high and had good exclusive breast feeding practice. Although majority of the respondents are knowledgeable about EBF, the results show a gap between knowledge and actual practice within six months which is a recommended duration for Exclusive Breast feeding.

Background: Sexual abuse is a situation whereby any people or individual entered in any sexual malpractice or sexual contact without his/her will. Sexual abuse among house girls and house boys is among of general medical issue in our nation particularly in the urban areas and towns. The aim of the study was to examine predicators associated with knowledge on risk factors of sexual abuse among house girls and house boys in Singida Municipality.Methods: The cross section study involved a total of 252 participants from the selected house hold in Singida Municipality. A multistage sampling technique was used to obtain sample and data was collected by using self-administered structured questionnaire. Chi-square and logistic regression were used to determine the association between knowledge on risk factors and sexual abuse among house girls and house boys.Results: The large numbers of respondents with mean age of 22years old were single. Only 53.1% of house girls were knowledgeable on risk factors associated with sexual abuse compared to house boys. After control of the confounders the predictors of knowledge about risk factors on sexual abuse were educational level (AOR = 0.332, p = 0.002, 95%CI:0.167; 0.659), how did you find a job(AOR=2.412, p=0.001, 95%CI:1.433; 2.523), and type of family he/she living(AOR=4.672, p=0.002, 95%CI:0.0709; 0.719, nuclear family (AOR=4.023, p=0.023, 95%CI:0.101;0902). Conclusion: The findings depicted that the study participants have inadequate knowledge on risk factors associated with sexual abuse and it discovered that the influencing factors were education level, means of getting a job and type of family.
