AbstrakKemampuan representasi matematis sangat penting dalam pembelajaran matematika, akan tetapi dalam kenyataannya siswa cenderung meniru langkah guru dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi verbal, representasi gambar, dan representasi simbol, serta pemahaman dari siswa SMP pada materi statistika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah pada indikator kemampuan representasi verbal dan indikator kemampuan representasi gambar atau visual ketiga subjek yang diteliti sudah cukup menguasai. Pada indikator kemampuan representasi simbol hanya dua subjek yang sudah menguasai, sedangkan satu subjek lainya kurang memahami representasi simbol. Pada pemahaman mengenai materi statistika, rata-rata dari ketiga subjek yang diteliti sudah cukup menguasai materi statistika. Saran penulis bagi guru adalah upayakan guru berusaha memberikan metode dalam penyampaian materi yang membuat siswa bersemangat misalnya memberikan materi melalui video supaya siswa tidak merasa bosan. Analysis of Mathematic Representation Ability of Junior Highschool Students in Statistics Materials AbstractThe ability of mathematical representation is very important in learning mathematics, but in reality, students tend to imitate the teacher's steps in solving problems. The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of verbal representation, image representation, and representation of symbols, as well as an understanding of junior high school students on statistical material. This study uses descriptive research methods. The conclusions obtained from this study are the indicators of verbal representation capabilities and indicators of the capabilities of the representation of the image or visual three subjects studied have been quite mastered. In indicators, the ability of the symbolic representation is only two subjects that have mastered, while the other subjects do not understand the representation of the symbol. In an understanding of statistical material, the average of the three subjects studied has sufficiently mastered statistical material. The author's advice for teachers is to try the teacher trying to provide a method in delivering material that makes students vibrant for example giving material through video so that students don't feel bored.
The background of this research is the low ability of creative thinking skills, one of which is the lack of student self-confidence. This study aims to analyze how mathematics creative thinking in terms of self-confidence. This qualitative descriptive study involved five eighth-grade students in Simpang Village, Cikajang District, Garut Regency as research subjects. The instruments used are in the form of written test questions, interviews, and observations. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that students' self-confidence influenced students' mathematical creative thinking abilities. Students who have all indicators of self-confidence tend to have one indicator of creative thinking skills, namely elaboration or describing coherently the problem-solving steps. Meanwhile, students who only have one indicator of self-confidence tend not to have indicators of creative thinking skills. Thus self-confidence is one of the factors that affect to mathematics creative thinking.
This research is motivated by the students' low mathematical communication skills. The research objective was to obtain a description of the students' mathematical communication skills in class VIII in mathematics learning. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were 4 grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 7 Garut. The results showed (1) the students' mathematical communication skills in the data presentation material of class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Garut in Cigulawing Village, were generally said to be less good. Because most students have not been able to meet all the indicators; (2) Students with high mathematical abilities can achieve almost all indicators of mathematical communication skills; (3) Students with moderate mathematical abilities have not mastered several indicators of mathematical communication skills; (4) Students with low math abilities have not been able to master the indicators of mathematical communication skills.
The facts show that the mathematical representation and disposition skills that are important for students are still low and need to be improved. For example, the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model and the Somatic Auditory Visualization Intellectually (SAVI) learning model. The purpose of the study is to analyze the differences in mathematical representation and disposition abilities between students who received the CTL and SAVI learning models. The research method is quasi-experimental with a population of all eighth-grade students of one of the public junior high schools in Garut. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely class VIII-H as many as 32 students as experimental class 1 with CTL learning model and class VIII-I as many as 35 students as experimental class 2 with SAVI learning model. The research instrument was in the form of a description test and a questionnaire. The results showed that there were differences and increases in mathematical representation and disposition abilities between students who received the CTL and SAVI learning models.
Communication plays an important role in assisting students in constructing concepts and establishing links between abstract ideas and language and mathematical symbols. The purpose of this study was to determine students' mathematical communication skills on the material of equations and quadratic functions in terms of gender differences in Sukamenak village. The population in this study were students of SMP/MTs equivalent in the village of Sukamenak, while the sample was selected based on purposive sampling technique, with as many as 6 students consisting of 3 male students and 3 female students. Based on the description and analysis of the results of the research that has been done, it is known that male students get an overall score of 45, with a percentage of 75%, so that they are included in high mathematical communication skills, while female students get an overall score of 50, with a percentage of 83%, so it is included in the category of high mathematical communication skills. So, it can be concluded that the students' mathematical communication skills in the matter of equations and quadratic functions in Sukamenak village in terms of gender differences obtained similarities, both male students and female students belonging to the high category of mathematical communication skills.Komunikasi memainkan peranan yang penting dalam membantu siswa dalam membina konsep dan membina perkaitan antara ide dan bahasa abstrak dengan simbol matematika.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi persamaan dan fungsi kuadrat ditinjau dari perbedaan gender di desa sukamenak. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP/MTs sederajat yang berada di desa sukamenak, sedangkan sampel dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling sebanyak 6 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 3 orang siswa laki-laki dan 3 orang siswa perempuan. Berdasarkan deskripsi dan analisis hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diketahui bahwa: Siswa laki-laki memperoleh keseluruhan skor sebanyak 45, dengan persentase sebesar 75%, sehingga termasuk dalam kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang tinggi, sedangkan siswa perempuan memperoleh keseluruhan skor sebanyak 50, dengan persentase sebesar 83%, sehingga termasuk dalam kategori kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang tinggi. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi persamaan dan fungsi kuadrat di desa Sukamenak ditinjau d perbedaan gender diperoleh kesamaan, baik siswa laki-laki maupun siswa perempuan tergolong kedalam kemampuan komunikasi matematis kategori tinggi.
