Nesta pesquisa analisamos a atuação da Defensoria Pública da Comarca de Buíque-PE enquanto instrumento de acesso à justiça para mulheres encarceradas pelo tráfico de drogas, refletindo por um viés social as diversas situações para que tais mulheres se insiram nesse contexto e acabem presas. Os dados coletados constroem o perfil social das mulheres que se encontram encarceradas na Colônia Penal Feminina de Buíque- PE. Assim a problemática da pesquisa que orientou este estudo foi: de que forma a Defensoria Pública da Comarca de Buíque tem atuado como instrumento de acesso à justiça para mulheres encarceradas pelo tráfico de drogas? Trata-se de um estudo inicialmente de caráter bibliográfico com fins descritivos e explicativos construídos a partir de uma base documental. A investigação realizada constatou que o perfil social das mulheres encarceradas pelo crime de tráfico de drogas é predominante de negras ou pardas, solteiras, com baixo índice de escolaridade, que na sua grande maioria encontram-se presas, os resultados demonstram de que forma a entrada, a permanência e a saída de mulheres do tráfico de drogas podem ser compreendidas à luz de questões de gênero e assim desmistificando o preconceito criado pela sociedade em relação dessas mulheres e o tráfico de drogas.
