Objetivo: Descrever os desafios do fisioterapeuta no tratamento e recuperação de pacientes com COVID-19, como os fisioterapeutas podem ajudar a minimizar possíveis sequelas e o tempo de internação e identificar rotinas dentro da unidade de terapia intensiva. Método: Foi realizada uma pesquisa dos artigos nas bases de dados: LILACS e SCIELO e no banco de dados PubMed, usando os descritores: Fisioterapia, COVID-19, Tratamento, Paciente e seus descritores em inglês. Os dois pesquisadores independentes buscaram por artigos originais entre 2019 e 2021. Resultados: Foram selecionados 32 artigos relevantes para a pesquisa, após a exclusão dos artigos, ou que não atingissem os critérios de qualidade e inclusão, 10 artigos constituíram a amostra. A fisioterapia pode reduzir as consequências de todas as sequelas do processo de hospitalização e promover uma recuperação mais rápida. Ao verificar os desafios diante dessa situação de crise global, a tecnologia apresenta-se como uma oportunidade para continuar a desenvolver-se profissional e cientificamente, para implementar as vantagens na recuperação de pacientes com Covid-19. Conclusão: Pode-se concluir que os profissionais de saúde devem estar cientes das recomendações específicas para o manejo de COVID-19 e garantir a segurança de ambos os pacientes e dos próprios profissionais que estão atuando direta e indiretamente na linha de frente da COVID-19, principalmente dos fisioterapeutas que atuam na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva.
