MeCN in the Presence of 4-ChlorobutyryI Chloride (lb, Method B). The substrate (0.6 g, 2.33 mmol) is reduced at -1.78 ± 0.08 V in the presence of lb (0.27 mL, 2.4 mmol): = 2.21; crude product, 0.685 g. The first time, the chromatographic column is eluted with benzene; 13b (23%) and 14d (9%) are thus isolated. Then the column is eluted with diethyl ether, and 0.415 g of a mixture of four compounds is collected. In a second experiment, the column is eluted with 70:30 diethyl ether-hexane, and 15d (20%), 10c (6%), and 15c (8%) are isolated. At least, 19 (5%) is collected from the column with diethyl ether as the eluant., -Diphenyl-a-anilinoacetylcyclopropane (14d): mp 157
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
