The paper is focused on the model of the effect of delayed chloride exposure on the chloride induced corrosion initiation on ideal reinforced concrete bridge. The Finite Element-based numerical model is applied. The effect of concrete quality is expressed in the form of time dependent diffusion coefficient in order to evaluate the effect of concrete type as well as the effect of aging. The influence of extended chloride exposure on the corrosion initiation is introduced.

Rapid development of computer technologies brings possibility to exploitpowerful computers for reliability analysis of (civil) engineering structuresunder consideration of random properties of various quantities influencingtheir resulting reliabilities. Aim of this paper is to outline possibility ofutilization of computer simulation Monte Carlo to predict reliability of areinforced concrete retaining wall from the viewpoint of possible loss ofstability. One of advantages of this approach is possibility to quantifyprobability of failure allowing structural optimization leading to design ofmore effective structures.

The contribution is focused on the random variation and correlation of input parameters for the climate data description. The climate data such as ambient temperature, solar intensity, wind speed and direction are of the random nature. The description of ambient temperature can be based on the climate data time series in the form of climatic "load duration curve". Particular input parameters such as ambient temperature and solar radiation have a significant correlation. The attention is paid especially to the evaluation and simulation application of the histograms using Monte Carlo type process considering correlation of particular parameters.

For a correct interpretation of the results of the risk analysis are necessary correct input data. Acquisition of data can be different. For logical and numerical methods the expert risk analysis can we ensure data through questionnaires. This can serve as questionnaires experts. Acquisition of data can also be combined with methods for probabilistic analysis.

This chapter deals with the behaviour of an abutment pier on subsoil subjected to lood changes. The loods increase the cross-section of the river bed and change the properties of the foundation soil under the foundation. First, the soil saturates with water. Then, ine-grained particles will wash away and inally parts of the basement rock will be washed of. Finite element method has been used for the calculation of the interaction between the foundation and the subsoil. The foundation has been modelled in a 2D environment using spatial components. For the subsoil, an element with efects of an elastic foundation has been used. The stifness of the bedrock has been characterized by the C parameter. The chapter describes situations related to the collapse of the structure.
