A través de la revisión de cuatro experiencias escénicas contemporáneas latinoamericanas basadas en la Divina comedia, de Dante Alighieri: las obras dramáticas El infierno, de Vicente Leñero (México, 1989), y Una pasión sudamericana, de Ricardo Monti (Argentina, 1989); las puestas en escena Infierno (1997), Purgatorio (1998) y Paraíso (1999), de Cheté Cavagliatto (Córdoba, Argentina), y la intervención Maqueta para el Dante, de José Alejandro Restrepo (Bogotá, Colombia, 2014), se reflexiona sobre la forma en que las reescrituras se realizan de forma territorializada, es decir, desde un contexto concreto, y el texto-fuente dantesco funciona como generador de imágenes, intertextos y denotaciones.
