The new roles center on mentoring, fieldbased preparation, and collaboration.Workin g with professors as colleagues and fellow trainers, principals are taking on new responsibilities for planning, delivering, and evaluating programs for preparing prospective principals. Three concepts used by reformers of principal preparation programs-mentoring, field-based preparation, and collaboration-are defining new roles and relationships for principals.
