Objetivou-se relatar as formas de intervenção do Médico Veterinário à COVID-19 no contexto One Health. Foi executada uma revisão integrativa de caráter quali-quantitativo, nas bases de dados: Google Acadêmico, SciELO, PubMed e Lilacs, nos idiomas português e inglês, no período entre maio a julho de 2020, segundo os descritores COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, One Health e Medicine Veterinary. Além da assistência clínica, a atuação veterinária se envolve diretamente em áreas de proteção humana e ambiental, como: ações de vigilância sanitária, inspeção de produtos de origem animal e a estudos da COVID-19 e afins. Atua na elaboração de vacinas e de seu protocolo de utilização, na liberação de material e de profissionais para ações em saúde, além da adaptação de seus laboratórios para uso humano. Compete a ele estudar os fatores de virulência em modelos animais e estar envolvidos na formulação de políticas e de medidas para o gerenciamento de mercados de animais vivos. Conclui-se que os médicos veterinários são devidamente capacitados para atuar frente à um cenário pandêmico, principalmente a da COVID-19, que é uma zoonose de agente etiológico estudado a diversos anos.
Os psitacídeos são aves da ordem Psittaciformes caracterizados por um bico superior curvo adaptado a sua alimentação, que na natureza, é constituída geralmente a base de sementes, brotos, castanha, coquinho, frutas, flores, néctar, proteínas e outros vegetais. O objetivo desse estudo é analisar os principais erros nutricionais ligados a Pisittaciformes mantidos como pet. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, com busca de artigos nas bases de dados: Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO); Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) e Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), utilizando os descritores: Distúrbios; Psittaciformes; e Nutrição. A seleção respeitou critérios de inclusão/exclusão dos artigos dos últimos 5 anos, nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol. Foram excluídos estudos que se mostravam inconclusos e/ou repetitivos. Os resultados demonstraram que os psitacídeos são as aves mais desejadas como pet, entretanto condições restritivas e inadequadas de manejo e nutrição acabam deixando esses animais em constante estresse resultando em diversos distúrbios nutricionais como obesidade, hipovitaminose A, deficiência de cálcio e proteínas, além de outras patologias. Dessa forma, são necessários maiores estudos acerca da nutrição dos psitaciformes com o intuito de diminuir os distúrbios resultantes dos seus erros de manejo.
