La crisis ocasionada por el virus Covid-19 ha tenido un alcance y unas consecuencias a nivel mundial nunca antes imaginadas, siendo uno de los sectores más afectados, el turismo. Es por ello que cada país tiene la responsabilidad de estudiar la nueva normalidad para combatir de forma gradual los efectos de la crisis, por lo que esta investigación se propone una evaluación de la situación del turismo en Ecuador antes de la crisis, las consecuencias de esta para el sector turístico ecuatoriano y la propuesta de estrategias que posibiliten reactivar la actividad turística en el país. Además, a través, de la aplicación de 300 cuestionarios gerentes, empresarios y emprendedores de establecimientos turísticos registrados por el MINTUR, se concluyeron los escenarios más probables a generarse en el país.
En la actualidad el desarrollo turístico es soportado por toda una red de estudios y tecnologías que tienen su basamento en herramientas y modelos matemáticos aplicados a los disimiles contextos que se generan en el sector. Desde las sombras han sido un factor clave para la interpretación, comprensión y toma de decisiones en todos los fenómenos que pueden darse en el turismo. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo demostrar la importancia de las matemáticas en la gestión turística de un destino, a partir de la caracterización las herramientas con aplicación en el turismo y su implementación, y la evaluación de la incidencia de dichas herramientas en el desarrollo de la gestión turística. Se enfoca fundamentalmente en la aplicación de la estadística, la optimización y las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TIC). Dentro de las TIC caracteriza brevemente aplicación de las Big Datas y su importancia para la generación de información confiable y en tiempo real. Por último, realiza un breve diagnóstico de la aplicación de las bases de datos en Cuba y su posible evolución a las Big Datas. Los objetivos de la investigación son logrados a partir de la consulta bibliográfica de diferentes fuentes, en donde se analizan casos teóricos y prácticos de aplicaciones de herramientas matemáticas en diferentes aspectos de análisis económicos, sociales, financieros, de marketing, entre otros.
El sector turístico en Cuba ha sido el principal motor generador de la economía en el nuevo siglo. Los ingresos turísticos han sido marcados por el constante crecimiento de los arribos turísticos que tiene Cuba, alcanzando cifras de casi 5 millones de personas. En estos índices juega un papel fundamental el turismo canadiense que viaja a la isla. Canadá se ha destacado históricamente por ser el principal mercado emisor de turistas a Cuba, con cifras actuales de aproximadamente el 30% del total de turistas emitidos por los principales mercados, los cuales representan más del 60% del total de turistas llegados a Cuba. Por esta razón se le ha prestado especial atención al estudio de este tipo de clientes para mantener su preferencia entre los destinos del Caribe. Conocer la significación que tiene este mercado es vital para la programación y estimación del sector turístico en general, puesto que una caída de los arribos canadienses afectaría la economía turística más que la de cualquier otro mercado emisor. La siguiente investigación tiene como objetivo la aplicación de modelos econométricos a la demanda canadiense para estimar y pronosticar la incidencia de las fluctuaciones de este mercado en los arribos turísticos internacionales del país. Para ello se emplean métodos matemáticos y estadísticos a partir de herramientas informáticas como el Microsoft Excel y el SPSS. Con ellos se realizaron análisis correlaciónales, de regresión múltiple, y programación lineal que permitieron conocer y estimar el comportamiento del turismo internacional en la isla a partir de la influencia del turismo canadiense.
