A esporotricose é caracterizada como uma infecção fúngica de caráter zoonótico causada por espécies do complexo Sporothrix schenckii que vem ganhando importância em diversas regiões do Brasil. Nos mamíferos o quadro clínico apresenta-se na forma crônica ou aguda com o surgimento de lesões cutâneas e os felinos domésticos contaminados apresentam-se como um dos seus principais vetores. A doença é considerada um problema de saúde pública, uma vez que, afeta principalmente a população de áreas endêmicas. O diagnóstico é realizado com a identificação e isolamento do fungo S. schenckii e o tratamento de eleição é realizado através do uso de fármacos da classe dos antifúngicos azóis como o cetoconazol, itraconazol e fluconazol. No entanto, novos métodos de tratamento vêm sendo estudados, como o uso da timomodulina. A esporotricose trata-se de uma doença negligenciada e ainda subdiagnosticada, principalmente por falta de informação e divulgação. Nesse contexto, levando em consideração a sua importância para a Saúde Única, esta revisão objetiva abordar a definição da doença em felinos, assim como sua etiopatogenia, transmissão, sinais clínicos, diagnóstico, profilaxia, controle e as ferramentas mais atuais de tratamento.
