A Bíblia Sagrada pode ser considerada o livro mais importante para os cristãos, pois descreve como deve ser o relacionamento humano com Deus e qual é a Sua vontade. Possui relatos sobre assuntos diversos, incluindo referências a artigos e processos têxteis, desde as fibras até o processo de costura. Há poucos estudos sobre os têxteis apresentados na Bíblia, sendo assim o presente trabalho analisou os versículos dos cinco primeiros livros bíblicos, Gênesis, Êxodo, Levítico, Números e Deuteronômio, chamados de Pentateuco, pois esses livros apresentam o início da vida humana, incluindo o início da manufatura têxtil, e possuem vários versículos relacionados ao têxtil. O estudo ocorreu com a leitura dinâmica dos livros e posteriormente realizou-se uma análise dos versículos selecionados. Com o estudo foram identificadas as primeiras referências à têxteis citadas no Pentateuco, que o linho foi a fibra têxtil mais mencionada, como eram as roupas sacerdotais, os artigos têxteis citados, os têxteis técnicos da época, os processos existentes, sendo a retorção dos fios o processo mais citado, as cores obtidas pelos tingimentos naturais e o significado do ato de rasgar as roupas e vestir pano de saco.
