Contribution to the study of the cercariae in the Lake of Geneva. I. Furcocercariae.-Furcocercariae have been emitted by snails of the genus Lymnaea, which were collected from the Lake of Geneva and from rivers of the region of Geneva, and have been studied in regard to their chaetotaxy and/or ultrastructure of the body surface. This study allowed the authors to identify (1) one species belonging to the family Bilharziellidae and to the genus Trichobilharzia, (2) one species belonging to the family Strigeidae and to the genus Apatemon, and (3) four species belonging to the family Diplostomatidae, two of which correspond to the genus Diplostomum. The scanning electron microscope has helped to better understand several structural details of the body surface. Simple tail cercariae. -A chaetotaxical study of cercariae, emitted by snails of the genera Lymnaea and Bithynia in the Lake of Geneva, allowed the authors to identify, besides furcocercariae, four species of simple tail cercariae: (1) three xiphidiocercariae armatae of the family Plagiorchiidae, one of which belongs to the genus Plagiorchis and another to the genus Opisthioglyphe; (2) one cercaria which does not resemble any taxon described in chaetotaxy.
