<p>A depressão é um distúrbio da área afetiva ou do humor com forte impacto funcional em qualquer faixa etária. Possui natureza multifatorial por envolver diversos aspectos biológicos.<span>Objetivo deste relato é refletir sobre os casos de depressão nas unidades de internação, identificando os cuidados de enfermagem realizados a esses pacientes. Um estudo de abordagem qualitativa descritiva na modalidade de relato de experiência, vivenciada no estágio supervisionado do 9°semestre de enfermagem de uma Universidade Regional localizada na região noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul. Os profissionais deveriam utilizar a escuta qualificada e o acolhimento como os principais recursos de intervenção em quadros depressivos, mas não foi assim que percebemos na nossa vivencia, conversando com a enfermeira de uma das unidades de internação podemos perceber que não é assim que ocorre. O enfermeiro é um dos profissionais da saúde que tem contato direto e constante com os pacientes dos serviços de saúde. Podendo identificar os sinais indicativos de depressão, fazer o levantamento das possíveis dificuldades desse portador.</span> <span>Percebemos que falta muito o interesse dos profissionais por esse assunto, muito preconceito envolvido, o que deve ser mudado,</span> <span>poderia ser dotadas medidas como educação em saúde para os profissionais da enfermagem em que os mesmos saibam como dialogar com o paciente e fazer o acolhimento e cuidado adequado para os pacientes com depressão.</span></p>
