Abstract:The presence of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) Riassunto: La presenza di benzene, toluene, etilbenzene e xilene (BTEX) disciolti nell'acqua di falda e migrati dalla fase libera (LNAPL) in un acquifero freatico di natura alluvionale ha reso necessaria la progettazione delle attività di bonifica ai sensi del D.Lgs 152/06 e s.m.i., da parte del soggetto responsabile. A tal fine sono state condotte una serie di attività sperimentali per la definizione del modello concettuale del sito in esame e per il dimensionamento della tecnologia di bonifica. Questa è stata supportata dalla costruzione di un modello matematico alle differenze finite di flusso e trasporto reattivo nel mezzo saturo, attraverso i codici numerici MODFLOW e RT3D. Le evidenze sperimentali sito specifiche hanno mostrato come i BTEX disciolti in falda siano sottoposti a processi biodegradativi da parte dei batteri naturalmente presenti nell'acquifero, tali da rendere ipotizzabile una significativa stimola- Parole chiave: biorisanamento, BTEX, degradazione aerobica, modellazione numerica, pump&treat. Keywords: bioremediation, BTEX, aerobic degradation, numerical modeling, pump&treat.zione dell'attività batterica indotta dall'iniezione di ossigeno in falda con la conseguente rimozione dei composti aromatici presenti nel mezzo saturo. Le tecnologie di bonifica valutate sono state il pump&treat (nel seguito P&T) con immissione nell'acquifero dell'acqua di falda emunta e trattata ed il barrieramento reattivo attraverso micro diffusione di ossigeno disciolto in falda (nel seguito OD). I risultati delle elaborazioni svolte hanno evidenziato un netto vantaggio nei termini del rapporto costi/efficienza con l'applicazione dell'OD che presenta complessivamente un costo pari a circa il 30% rispetto al P&T con immissione, raggiungendo inoltre la rimozione della contaminazione disciolta in falda con tempi inferiori; inoltre il sistema di biorisanamento risulta applicabile anche come tecnologia per la Messa in Sicurezza di Emergenza (nel seguito MISE).
