Apesar do consenso sobre o turismo promover transformações no espaço urbano, sua relação com a dimensão territorial demanda estudos contínuos, pois na medida em que os acontecimentos indicam uma integração maior destas dimensões, alguns questionamentos embasados em teorias tradicionais vêm à tona. Tais teorias, com abordagens geralmente instrumentalizadas e direcionadas à aspectos econômicos, não contemplam algumas dimensões intangíveis das cidades, como os aspectos culturais, experienciais e sociais, que são de difícil interpretação e articulação. Nesta nova configuração, as práticas da sociedade atual podem ser configuradas como estruturas indeterminadas e caóticas, que passam a depender de um olhar exploratório sobre a anterioridade, a fim de aprimorar e promover o valor estratégico de ações implementadas a partir da análise contemporânea dos problemas a serem resolvidos. Neste cenário, este artigo se propõe a explorar esta nova configuração territorial do turismo à luz da cultura de design e de seus processos criativos e imersivos, com o intuito de colaborar para a construção de conhecimento sobre novas perspectivas estratégicas de ação que promovam o desenvolvimento competitivo e atrativo do lugar turístico nas cidades.
