(2000) también corroboran esos efectos negativos, y también mencionan atrofi a muscular, reducción de la capacidad de ejercicio y cambio en el perfi l lipídico, con aumento del colesterol total y disminución del colesterol HDL. El objetivo de ese estudio fue comparar los niveles séricos de IGF-1 entre dos grupos de señoras mayores, subdivididos en: Grupo A, compuesto por 24 señoras activas y Grupo B, compuesto por 10 señoras sedentarias, con edad mínima de 60 años. Se sometió el Grupo A a un entrenamiento de fuerza realizado dos veces a la semana, durante un periodo mínimo de 12 semanas. Para análisis de los niveles séricos de IGF-1 se ha aplicado el método de Radioimunoensayo-IRMA (coated-Tube-Irma kit diagnostic use DSL-5600) (Diagnostic Systems Laboratories); se lo ha realizado de acuerdo con las normas éticas previstas en la Resolución Núm. 196, de 10 de octubre de 1996, del Consejo Nacional de Salud. Se ha utilizado la Estadística Descriptiva y Prueba T de Student para verifi car si hay diferencias signifi cativas entre los promedios para p<0,05. Pese a la existencia de diferencias signifi cativas (Δ=11,84%) entre los valores promedio de las edades, tal diferencia no se infi ere signifi cativamente como un cambio en los niveles de IGF-1 y, por tanto, no se han observado diferencias signifi cativas entre los respectivos valores promedio; sin embargo, sí se ha observado un alto índice de variabilidad (razón entre los valores de desviación estándar y el respectivo promedio, en la variable IGF-1) entre los grupos.
