As disfunções temporomandibulares são caracterizadas pela presença de dor, inchaço e disjunção da articulação temporomandibular e/ou da musculatura. Sendo assim, o uso do laser proporciona anestesia dessa região, diminuindo a inflamação e o desconforto. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura sobre o uso do laser no tratamento da DTM, destacando benefícios, limitações, eficácia, relevância e impacto para saúde bucal. A pergunta norteadora é: Qual a eficácia do uso de laser de baixa potência no tratamento da DTM? Uma revisão integrativa da literatura foi realizada por meio de uma busca de artigos científicos nas bases de dados eletrônica Web of Science, PubMed e Medline, utilizando os descritores LLLT (low-level laser therapy), TMD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) e Orofacial, indexados no período de 2015 a 2020 que tratavam de case reports, clinical trial, review, meta-analysis e randomized controlled e excluindos artigos de books and documents e editoriais, através da integração das palavras “AND” e “MORE”. Após os critérios de elegibilidade foram analisados 7 artigos integralmente publicados em língua inglesa. Os estudos mostraram que o uso do laser auxilia no tratamento da DTM diminuindo o período de reparação da lesão, dor e inflamação devido a sua capacidade analgésica e anti-inflamatória. Sua eficácia se deve ao aumento de colágeno na ferida, estímulo à angiogênese e na proporção de células disponíveis para cicatrização. Contudo, se torna necessário que estudos continuem sendo realizados para que assuntos como este sejam disseminados para a população, já que essa técnica se mostra promissora.
O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o potencial in vitro de descoloração dental induzida por cimento endodôntico biocerâmico Bio-Csealer (Angelus, Londrina, PR, Brasil) comparado ao MTA Fillapex (Angelus, Londrina, PR, Brasil) e Cimento Portland Cinza (Votoran, Votorantim, SP, Brasil) na cavidade endodôntica de dentes “ex vivo”, após 7, 30, 60 e 90 dias. Os dentes coletados foram distribuídos em três grupos: dois grupos experimentais e um grupo controle (n = 10). Após o preparo químico-mecânico e remoção da smearlayer, toda a câmara pulpar foi preenchida com o material restaurador (Cavit, 3M) e os canais foram preenchidos com o cimento experimentado pelo acesso apical. O material foi compactado a um comprimento pré-mensurado de 6mm da junção cemento-esmalte à extensão apical. A variação da cor (ΔE) foi determinada por um espectrofotômetro digital. Como resultado observou-se que a descoloração foi mais severa nos períodos iniciais e diminuiu até o final do experimento. O cimento Portland foi o produto com maior potencial de descoloração dentinária, com diferença significante, em relação ao MTA Fillapex e o Bio-Csealer a partir da análise dos 30 dias (p<0,05). Apesar do Bio-Csealer apresentar a menor variação de cor em todos os momentos testados, não houve diferença significativa em relação ao MTA Fillapex. No intervalo de 90 dias a variação de cor foi imperceptível para o MTA Fillapex e o Bio-CSealer.Conclui-se que os cimentos MTA Fillapex e Bio-CSealer não provocaram descoloração, ao longo do período avaliado.
O tratamento estético tem a finalidade de restaurar a harmonia facial e com isso devolver a autoestima do indivíduo, reinserindo-o à sociedade. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo relatar um caso clínico de reabilitação estética de uma coroa escurecida. Paciente K.K.S.B., gênero feminino, 42 anos, compareceu à Clínica do Curso de Pós Graduação em Prótese Dentária da Schettini Educação Continuada, queixando-se da desarmonia do seu sorriso, devido ao escurecimento do dente anterior, após confecção de uma coroa dentária. O plano de tratamento para o caso foi a substituição da coroa e opacificação do pino metálico. Pode-se concluir que a redução do preparo, opacificação do pino metálico, e substituição da coroa por uma coroa metal free, foi uma opção de tratamento adequada, pois o elemento 11 passou de uma coloração escurecida para a cor A1 da escala vita, proporcionando uma excelente estética, harmonização do sorriso e devolução da autoestima da paciente.
