Als zentrales Merkmal der Berufskultur von Lehrkräften wurde wiederholt der hohe Autonomieanspruch in der Unterrichtsdurchführung wie auch bei Entscheidungen über seine organisationale Rahmung hervorgehoben. Zur Erklärung dieses Anspruchs wird eine unter den Lehrkräften herrschende Kollegialität angeführt, die eine Einmischung in den jeweils anderen Unterricht vor inkompetenten oder unsachgemäßen Einflüssen verhindere und ermögliche, die „endemischen Unsicherheiten“ (Lortie) des Lehrer*innenberufs zu bewältigen. In Anschluss an die bisherige Theoriebildung und Forschung zu diesem Aspekt der Berufskultur werden zwei Erweiterungen formuliert. Zum einen präsentiert der Beitrag ein (meta-)theoretisches Begriffsangebot zur Erforschung der Kollegialität unter Lehrkräften. Zum anderen wird die Praxis der Kollegialität und damit die Gewährung und Durchsetzung von Autonomie zum Forschungsgegenstand gemacht. Die rekonstruierten Daten verdeutlichen nicht nur gängige Praxisformen der Kollegialität in Schulen, sondern verweisen des Weiteren darauf, dass Kollegialität zwar auch als Ausdruck von Profession verstanden werden kann, gleichzeitig aber die Gefahr besteht, dass darüber individuelle Professionalisierungsdefizite verdeckt und nicht über eine professionsinterne ‚Qualitätssicherung‘ bearbeitet werden.
