RESUMOO setor da construção civil é responsável por cerca de 30% do consumo de matéria-prima e 25% da emissão de resíduos em escala mundial. A utilização de resíduos da construção como matéria-prima na confecção de concretos sustentáveis é uma prática viável e benéfica para o meio ambiente, para a sociedade e para a indústria. O propósito desta pesquisa é analisar o desempenho mecânico de um concreto alternativo que utiliza resíduos da construção e demolição (RCD) como substituto parcial do agregado graúdo. É necessário verificar se as propriedades requeridas são atendidas, para que o desempenho seja eficiente em comparação com o concreto convencional. Os traços foram elaborados com substituições de 15%, 30% e 50% dos resíduos, e submetidos a períodos de cura de 7, 14 e 28 dias. Inicialmente, a caracterização física dos materiais foi realizada por meio da análise de granulometria, massa unitária e específica, absorção e módulo de finura. Em seguida, os corpos de prova foram moldados e submetidos a ensaios mecânicos de resistência à compressão simples e tração por compressão diametral. O objetivo é avaliar se o concreto alternativo produzido com RCD é capaz de satisfazer as exigências técnicas e apresentar desempenho equiparável ao do concreto convencional. Os resultados indicam que os corpos de prova que tiveram resíduos RCD substituindo parte do agregado apresentaram valores de resistência semelhantes ou até maiores do que o concreto convencional. No caso do concreto com RCD, o traço de 15% alcançou a maior resistência, atingindo 21,6 MPa, superando os traços de 30% e o convencional após 28 dias de cura. No entanto, o traço com maior substituição do agregado (RCD 50%) não atingiu a resistência exigida pela norma. Conclui-se que o uso de resíduos como substituição de agregados naturais é viável, uma vez que mais de 80% das composições testadas atenderam aos padrões das normas. Isso proporciona benefícios econômicos e ajuda a evitar a extração de recursos naturais e o descarte inadequado de resíduos, promovendo a sustentabilidade e uma relação positiva entre a construção civil e o meio ambiente.
